Opening theme: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JuYeHPFR3f0

Our story begins with our Heroes in the officer's lunge below decks on the USS McCarthy, an Iowa class battleship:

http://www.history.navy.mil/photos/images/h97000/h97206k.jpg

The ship is escorting two transport ships mounting amphibious assault craft.

You are seated around a wooden table, bolted to the floor. At the hed of the table is The captain of the ship - captain Ruther. His decorated and medal adorned uniform partially seems intent to draw your attention from his battle scarred and burned face and hands. He begins to speak

(The speech is slightly different and extended from the one I started the recruitment thread. Give it another read through)

“Alright recruits! Listen up, 'cause I'm a busy man and I don't like repeating myself. In case this wasn't abundantly clear everything your about to be told is considered classified. The ship you're on, the USS McCarthy, is on route to the region of Kanto. Years ago, the US occupied the area to protect our oil interests. Well recently, you may have heard about the Orion meteor shower. Well, what you didn't know was that the meteor shower brought with it a new bioaltering chemical. Now, I don't know the science-y name for it, but the eggheads called it PK. Anyways It turned out when any kind of animal interacted with this stuff, it mutated them into monsters. Some of the time it combined animals, gave some of them some freaky powers. Whats worse is that this chemical spread with every creature it mutated and quickly mutated most of the creatures on the island. Humans as of now are unaffected… for now. But, these mutants managed to out compete and devour most other life on the island. These creatures have begun to spread beyond the borders of kanto into neighboring regions. Our scientists call these creatures PKmon. Soon everyone left on the island was faced with fighting these monsters. Well it turns out some could be domesticated and turned against the others. The people on the island not only figured that out but got pretty damn good at it, and we developed some technology to help them. Now, that's all well and dandy, but then a few of the commies on the island got together and decided they didn't wanna keep working with us. They used the monsters to oust us and stopped selling us the oil. Well now were here to take it back... For democracy and freedom...

Anyways… you're probably wondering why we've performed an experimental and highly risky brain swap procedure to stick you into a group of schoolchildren. Well the brass has determined that kids your age are reacted to the most amiably by these monsters and therefore have the best chance of succeeding in turning the monsters against our enemies. As such you have also been impregnated with a synthetic pheromone extruder to aid in your task. All I know are the bare bones. The more of these creatures you enslave and train, the more the PK sticks to you and the more these monsters respect you. After a certain point, you kids will have monsters with the power to fight squads of soldiers. The experimental procedures we have put these bodies through should give you an edge over the locals. You should be able to do in weeks what would take them years. Now its important we get these powers firmly under our control before the Nazis show up here and do it too. They've already taken Europe, but with these monsters we may finally be able to invade and stop this war once and for all.

Now a group of resistance fighters on our side are holed up in a place called Pallet Town. There's a crazy ****er there, Corporal Oak who calls himself the PK professor. He might be a senile old nut but apparently he's been pretty successful with these things so far. You kids are going to report to him and he will tell you exactly what to do. Now apparently there's an Indigo League defensive line guarding the beach between us and Pallet Town. What's why we brought this battleship. We are going to level their fortifications and then send in our troops to wipe out anyone left standing and set up a beachhead. Then we should have a good enough force to fight them until the rest of the troops get here.

It looks like each town has a “guardian” in charge of it. These “guardians” each have the most powerful PKmon in the area. Were going to need to stop each one if we want to take Kanto back and wipe out the Indigo League once and for all. There are 8 guardians and 4 people on the Indigo council, and each one is their own kind of nutter. We figure no one is going to suspect a group of kids to be any danger at all so you should be able to get all the resources you need for the job.

Our insertion point is this beach here: codenamed kakhi beach.”

He points to a large yellow beach on the projected map, your ship directly on course. The beach is pockmarked with grey and brown structures that are difficult to make out at his level of magnification

"The indigo league has fortified it with concrete bunkers and other defenses. They appear to be taking a few moves out of Rundstet’s playbook. Their soldiers, compared to ours lack discipline and advanced weaponry. Their weapons consist of what they have stockpiled and what the Russians have been able to sneak in. So far, their soldiers have fought with bolt action rifles and hunting weaponry with a few elite units holding advanced weaponry. Their use of these monsters however makes them formidable. We intend to level the beach with our guns before getting our boots wet… and sandy. Our troops will make landfall and mop up the remainder and immediately move east toward this bridge connecting to Fuscian city. We will draw their forces in and try to make way for the next phase of the invasion. You, will move north to the former pallet town… where you will meet corporal oak for further instructions.”

There is a loud metallic grinding noise as the ship beneath you suddenly shakes and violently rocks to the port side.

“What the hell was that? Helmsmen Report”

A voice comes over the intercom: “Feels like we hit a reef sir. Wasn’t on the nav. Waves are picking up. Are these weather reports accurate?”

The captain looks to you before groaning

“Looks like I’ve got to go knock some heads. Do you have any questions before I get to it?”

Jack looks at the man and speaks in a slow country drawl, sounding unnatural out of the city-boy preteen body he currently occupies.
Sir, I was told that I'd get a new hoss or bull or dog or something, since I can't see my old 'un anymore, and you said that we'd be gettin' a bunch of them P-K-Mons right soonish. How are we gonna keep a full team o' critters under control while fightin' them Guardian folk?"

Putting her arms behind her back, Anastasia (soon to be under the code name Violet) gave an uncharacteristically loud answer to blend in with the rest of the crew, as much as she loathed doing so. She needed answers and the men were just curious when they were getting their new toys.

" What is the word on PoWs? Is there a pickup zone? Do we have authorization to self-execute if captured, " she yelled, finishing with a standard, "SIR?"

Simon sits there silently, watching the interaction.
"Are the creatures as strong as they say?"
He stares directly at the Seargent, no formality in his voice.

The captain clears his throat

"No, the creatures are not as strong as we have said they are. The intel I have received suggests that these creatures and this infestation are far more horrifying than anything we can even imagine. Every day I receive a new horror story about a new way one of my men was mangled, tortured, devoured, poisoned, or even turned against us by these monsters. Every time I think I've heard the worst, I am proven wrong."

The captain looks down at the table and pauses for a few moments before taking a deep breath

"We cannot allow the creatures to leave the confines of Kanto and as such they could not be allowed on my ship. One could only imagine the disaster if one of them got loose on the ship. As such, Oak is holding your pokemon. When you arrive, you will be given your pk-mon and a rundown on the equipment. Until then you will be escorted by a squad of soldiers. My men will do as you ask during the attack. They have been informed that you are the most important part of the mission."

The captain turns to "violet" and pauses before speaking, as if hesitant

"There are a number of pow camps across Kanto, the largest of which is north of Cerulean city.

The pickup zone, after this plan succeeds, will be the Fuscia city bridge. If, God forbid, the plan does not succeed, your pickup would have to be orchestrated through insurgents loyal to our cause.

You have each been given a standard equipment back with standard first aid equipment, a flashlight, compass, a hunting knife, and most importantly, a potassium cyanide suicide pill. I shouldnt need to tell you how dangerous those are."

Another metallic grinding sound vibrates through the ship. It Rather than an impact it sounds like something massive is slowly dragging itself along the side of the ship.

"Thats no reef"

The captain no sooner finishes speaking than the ship is hit by a massive impact causing the ship to rotate almost 45 degrees before violently thrusting back. It is all you can do to stay on your feet.

This is sure as hell not a reef

"Oh... Uh, yes, I just remembered something I needed to do... Something not on deck, call me when we're going ashore" not exactly wanting to go face to face with something that could apparently take out a ship like this, he was more than willing to let the actual soldiers take care of it, "Well, have fun, don't get horribly mangled by a giant creature of death and all that"

"...Christ. Could this be one of the PKmon?"

A slight hint of fear is in his voice, but vastly overshadowing it is excitement. A crazed look is in his eyes.
"So much potential use...the weaponry that can be made from such *brute force*...

He mutters to himself, remaining seated.

Ana grabs hold of the table, attempting to stabilize herself in the turbulent ship. Given that there isn't much time to practice, she attempts to familiarize herself with how her brain interacts with her new shell by attempting to read the mind of Joshua Waelder. Nothing fancy, she simply skims for the first surface thought she finds.

Dr. Carver sits at the table in the seat farthest from the door, listening thoughtfully to the speech and feeling, not for the first time, as though this is really not the place for him - a civilian doctor, pediatrician no less, with absolutely no military experience whatsoever. The only girl - woman, he has to remind himself, for they're all adults even if they don't look it - asks a question and gets her answer (talk of PoWs and cyanide pills is not comforting), but he doesn't have time to do the same before the ship is violently turned around.

He grips the table hard to avoid being thrown to the floor, and nods slightly at the captain's command. A solid objective is something he can certainly handle. He looks around to all the others, matching faces to the names in the files he has seen. Hours have been spent memorizing the mental and physical health records of each of the people in this squad, and in just a few short minutes, it seems that responsibility for their continuing health will turn, at least in part, to him. No pressure.

Hey, guys, with that not-reef thing in the water, maybe we should.....I dunno. Ain't there some floating plane things in the catapult up top? Cap'n said we need to get out, no matter what....can any of y'all fly a plane? Or just crash it smooth like, I ain't picky.

At this, Jack turns and faces the group, scanning their faces find somebody who doesn't look on the verge of panic. He thinks to himself (not aloud)

Well, that girl seems to be concentratin on somethin', wonder if she knows the ship gon' sink? And that blonde kid in the corner...reckon he's got all his chickens in the pen...

The captain gives jack a funny look before opening his mouth to speak. he is cut off by the sound of gunfire. He quickly gives he order for all men to battle stations. The gunfire is sporadic, from some of the ship's mounted machine guns. The klaxons begin to ring out over the ship, as the sailors outside clamber to their posts

The captain runs out of the room toward the bridge as Reginald "excuses himself"

A second impact doesn't come, through sporadic low caliber gunfire continuing from the deck tell you the battle isn't over

As you wonder what your next course of action will be, a sailor runs into the lounge, with an M16 strapped across his back."

"Captain has ordered the launches to prep for deployment. I've been in charge of making sure you get to the craft. Each of you need to go grab what you need and meet back here in 5. Armory is 6 rooms back toward the stern, medical station is the deck below right under this lounge. I trust if you need anything form your rooms, you know where those are. I'll go find your rich friend"

Simon jumps up quickly.
"Chop chop I guess, times wasting! Wouldn't want to keep the good Professor waiting! "

He mumbles to himself about 'potential' as he's running, barely paying attention to the people around him.

Jeph's eyebrows rise when the soldier calls for them to get their things and be ready to leave. He stands immediately, already running through the things he might need in his head - but he hasn't even seen the med station yet, never mind knowing where anything is inside. EMS bag then - that should be easy to find. His own possessions are in the bunk that he was given upon arriving, but he quickly makes the decision to leave that behind, unless...

He looks toward the nearest of the children - operatives? He doesn't even know what to call the team, really - and puts a hand on their shoulder. "I need to get the medical supplies. Please get the bag from my bunk. It's the second one near the cabin door, on the left." He doesn't have time to wait for a response, and quickly moves away, searching for the steps down to the next level. When he finds them, he rushes down as quickly as he can without falling, following the signs for the med station.

"I need the trauma kit." he calls out as soon as he sees a staff member inside. He spots the EMS bag almost immediately, but hopes he can take the trauma kit instead - though the size of the EMS bag makes him frown a little. He hadn't been thinking about how he would carry the bag. The trauma kit should come in a rolling duffel case, but if he is forced to bring anything smaller it will be difficult to carry in his arms. Unfortunately the next size down is a mere first aid kit, which as far as he is concerned is not enough for this trip - unless this Professor Oak has one. No sense waiting to find out - he will try to get the most fully equipped one he can now, and deal with parsing it down later.

Joshua was taken aback by the shock of the boat rocking, barely managing to stay on his little 13 year old feet. He quickly stabilized and heard what the commander said, repeating the name "Oak" several times in his mind to memorize it. As such he was a bit unfocused when he bumped into Jack. This snaps him out of his short delusion and he burst out:"Finally some action. Com'on Jack, let's do this!"
He quickly grabs his pack and get's ready to move out.

Ana scowls as the only result of her test is a faint "oak". She postulates that she is not used to her current nerve endings, or perhaps the mind in question is experiencing too much stimulus. Interpreting beta waves was never an easy task, and there were too many variables to consider. Given the scenario, she decides against a second test or taking notes, instead double-checking that her personal equipment is with her- a geiger counter, a watch, and a roll of microfilm (camera not included). Along with her standard equipment, she will be more than enough to slow her down, and yet not enough to sleep comfortably.

Soon-to-be-Violet decides against raiding the armoury; a civilian weapon is likely more suited to her diminutive frame, and it is not unlikely that one will show itself soon enough. Instead she opts to stand in line behind the soldier, a little anxious to meet the corporal and be brought up to speed.

The diplomat turned boy-soldier sits calmly during the briefing, contemplating if he could kill someone if he recognized them. Before the memory of his dog rose into his mind and his face became stony.

When the ship was hit he stood, stumbling a little as the boat rocked
"At a guess I would say we are under attack by a Tentacruel, the evolved form of Tentacool. It's one of the biggest known sea PKmon. Which means we need to get going NOW. It has a lot of tentacles so distractions aren't as good against it."

Red takes two handguns and several clips of ammunition, knowing his skills where not suited to firearms despite long hours of practice.
Mere insurance before having access to a PKmon, or if his PKmon was defeated

Obviously having no idea what he's searching for, he watches as Red takes some handguns and clips. Deciding that while he's never actually fired a gun before, he's certainly used more complicated machinery and could wing it later.

Picking the same handgun as Red, he follows along.

"Big tentacles you say? So...a real live Kraken? Aha, this is phenomenal! I wonder how feasible mass producing them would be..."

Giddy with excitement, he heads back to the waiting dock.

"Well it depends, I've seen self-proclaimed Breeders make a whole team of PKmon in a month. Although they are quite weak, a Tentacool, which is the base form of the Tentacruel is a bit bigger than a hat. They need to be trained up in battle like any Wild PKmon that was captured.
So Tentacruel would be a slow set-up big payoff type of weapon and mostly confined to the seas."
Red looks around, hoping the soldier and the rich kid got back soon so they could escape the monster

Jack, Anonyman, and Joshua:

You each haul ass toward the armory. The quartermaster at first is shocked to see you, though snaps out of it quickly. Evidently the crew was not prepared to have children running around the ship with high caliber weaponry. The rest of the crew taken most of the weapons but plenty are left for you.

"I was told you were coming. I have a few different weapons for you to pick from. We have some assault rifles for you to pick from, a couple of scoped rifles for some long range action; some Submachine guns for close quarters support if you dont think you can handle the larger guns, We also have a few of these Pump action model 870 shotguns. On the back wall we have a selection of ordnance - namely frag grenades. you guys should probably take 3 for your kits. I was told to not let you guys weigh yourselves down with too much weaponry, your trying to stay mobile

TheOz:
Everything goes as you said. The physician on deck raises on eyebrow when you demand trauma kit, which is about as large as your child frame, but he doesn't stop you from taking it. It takes some effort to lug it up the stairs but you make it back in time. The sailor in charge of you is clutching the pack from your room

HopeHubris:
You left a few minuets before this and retreated to your room. You took this time to go over the contents of your pack one more time ( it contains a large firearm of your choice and either a sidearm or 3 smoke grenades along with the aformentioned adventuring equipment. As you are repacking your kit, The ship is impacted again, strong enough to rock the ship violently again. you are thrown to the floor and turn to look. The wall of your cabin has been violently bent inward by the attack. The steel plates have separated from the bolts allowing some water to spray in. More worryingly however, are the four 24 inch long bleached white fangs now protruding through the contorted wall. The four fangs suddenly squeeze closer to eachother as the monster closes its mouth, crushing the steel outer wall of the ship. Water gushes in powerfully enough to blow you off your feet and into the hallway. You are stunned for an instant before you are pulled to your feet. A sailor is standing over you, holding your shoulders and shaking you.

"WE NEED TO GO!!!!"

As each of you are heading back to the lounge, the vessel is impacted again, violently enough to rock the ship. Jack, Anonyman, and Joshua are the first to get bakk clutching their brand new firearms (up to you guys which ones). They are followed by the sailor, who is clutching a bag in one hand and a stunned Reginald in the other. The Doctor is the last to arrive, struggling with a massive rolling white duffel bag with a medical cross painted on. At the Doctor's arrival, the sailor shouts: We need to Go!!!

The sailor takes point running up the stairs toward the deck. Arriving at the deck level, you are able to see the battle unfold:

The beast before the ship is like a thing out of a child’s nightmare. A massive blue serpent rises out of the water, its form towering over the bow of the ship. Its gaping mouth is the size of a humvee. It lets out a bellowing roar, fire spewing from its mouth

Soldiers on deck aim their weapons, everything from their sidearms to the 50 cal mounted machine guns at the beast. The monster barely blinks as the bullets tear its flesh apart. It opens its mouth as a bright light collects in its mouth. The monster levels its skull at the main gun on the foredeck of the ship before a massive flash of white light blinds you before you are hit by a blast of hot compressed. A deafening explosion threatens to cripple your ears as metal is rended apart. When you can finally see again, much of the foredeck where the main gun used to be has been turned into a crater, a 30 foot diameter hole rent in the middle of the deck. The attack must have set off some of the munitions. The monster leans over the deck, head hanging downward. It appears...exhausted. The sailors haul ass away from the bow of the ship to take up positions near the helm. The sailors already further back, continue to unload their weapons in the direction of this horror from the depths. Landing craft are being loaded on either side of the ship though a few were disabled or outright destroyed by shrapnal from the blast. One of the 50 cal machine guns sits unmanned, its operator crippled by a flying hunk of metal.

((I'm sorry if you feel I am railroading a bit, Im trying to rush through the intro to get you to your pokemon as quickly as possible. (some railroading at the start is to be expected to get us going, before we can make some of our own choices)

"THAT'S NO TENTACRUEL!" yells Red, still partially deaf from the massive explosion.
Checking to see if his 3 frag grenades are still attached Red picks up his shotgun. A submachine gun sticking out of his pack.
His weaponry focused on closer forms of combat to deal with his average aiming skills and because they are contingencies when caught without a PKmon.

"There must have been multiple PKmon, because I heard multiple points of fire and destruction. I assumed it was a single attack from a tentacruel, I didn't think a wave of them was attacking!"

Initially going towards the scope'd rifle, he finds himself physically struggling just to pick it up.
Setting it back down, he grabs a Revolver and runs up onto the deck, only to be stopped in his tracks at the sight of the creature.

This thing was...enormous. Greater than his wildest dreams
And it was stunned. It didn't seem to have any weaknesses, but an attack like that again could kill them all, and he'll be damned if he'll die before he could control some of these things! He had never felt such happiness in his life.

"You! You know what you're doing. Come help, I must test this!"

He rushes over to the 50 Cal and, after unceremoniously pushing the downed soldier out of the seat, begins to get to work on getting the weapon up and running again, struggling in his small body to man it.
He hadn't actually *shot* anything like this before, but in his old body he had helped install one! At the very least he figured it would be hard to miss.

I don't know if you'll want an int check or something to get it working but just in case [roll0]. If Red (or someone else) comes, he'll merely assist red in firing as Red seems more experience, if not he'll go for it himself.

Dr. Carver is more than happy to let the sailor cart some of the weight up onto the deck. The trauma kit was unquestionably too large to bring with him into the kind of places they would be trekking during the main part of the trip, but if he could he would take it as far as this Oak fellow and from there bring only the essentials.

As the huge creature reared up out of the water, he couldn't help but stare, slowing down a little as he followed the sailor, who seemed to know where he was going. Then the monster drew back to attack, and he had just enough time to cover his eyes and duck down before the blast struck. Not that it helped too much, but at the very least he escaped being blinded.

When the debris clears, he is able to get a good look at the monster, as it appears to be thoroughly exhausted after the last attack. The name of the creature... He should remember it. But there's no time for that now. He looks around for the others - there should be five. "One, two..." Two are trying to man one of the huge guns mounted on the deck. "Three... Four, five. Good." The others are easily counted on deck, and the doctor makes sure to take a position near the back of the group - not that it can really be avoided, what with the large bag he's rolling along. Still, it's mostly unwieldy rather than heavy, and he can jog along behind the others without much trouble as he follows them to the launches.

Joshua nods at Jack in agreement. Guns and a Nickname, it was looking like an awesome day. Not that Josh was a rare thing to be called, but it still meant something to the soldier. On the battlefield you need friends, or else you break. This was especially true now, where they faced unknown aberrations in a foreign land.

They head to the armory and Josh sees the Assault Rifle, and immediately has a humongous grin on his face. In his old body that would be terrifying, but now it just looks adorable. He points:"That Assault Rifle please. And the Grenades if possible. Thank you sir." And in go the grenades, on goes the rifle and off he goes following Jack.

On the deck he spots the large blue thing:"Ohhhh YEAH, Eel Barbecue, my Favorite. Let's cook 'im up good boys, I bet he's a good chow."

Joshua runs up and slides into cover behind a torn hunk of metal as the monster starts to move again. He tries to level his gun at the monster but misses his shot by a mile as the monster starts to move. Perhaps his body isnt used to the size of the weapon yet?

Jack raises his sidearm to fire a shot at it though at this distance its hard to tell if the bullet had any effect.

Simon struggles with the 50 cal deck gun at first. it takes some getting used to to aim the gun with wheels but luckily the weapon was already leveled in the monster's direction before you sat in it. You kick off the safety and hold down both triggers as the gun roars to life unleashing a stream of hot led at the monster. Due to your small stature, you have difficulty seeing over the gun and through the smoke that begins to collect as the gun fires. The air around the gun begins to simmer as the heat of the gun barrel begins to transfer to the air around it. The beast roars as the bullets impact, loudly enough to shake the ship. You look up when you finish firing. The beast is now bleeding from dozens of wounds on its body. It levels its eyes at you and glares before plunging into the water with enough force to cause a swell to surge over the deck of the ship. The rising water takes to sailors off their feet and plunges them, screaming into the gaping hole in the deck, a shower of sparks bursts from the hole as seawater pours in.

The captain shouts the order over the intercom: "DROP DEPTH CHARGES!!! HARD TO PORT!!! LOAD GUNS AND PREPARE TO FIRE!!!"

For now the monster has gone under. It was weakened but hardly crippled. There are mounted guns available on several spots on deck. If you wish to get on one, you should specify one of four locations (front or back of ship and port or starboard). The crew are busy prepping launches and dropping depth charges into the water and dozens of men are lying wounded on deck, struggling with everything from shrapnal injuries to missing legs.

How do you proceed?

Jack stops at the sound of the heavy machine gun, whoops, and hollers:

Heck yeah, Red, that was awesome! I wanna try!

Jack holsters his pistol, leaves the landing boat forgotten behind, and runs to the starboard gun, prepared to fire at the monster when it re-surfaces. (Let me know when to roll)

Simon stares mouth agape at the creature able to shrug off so many shots.

"...Have at it! But I wouldn't recommend using this particular gun at the moment!"

He jumps out of the seat, not wanting anything to do with that weapon anymore. He didn't know how smart the creature was, but he knew there was a good chance it would target the gun that pissed it off the most.
He decides his best opportunity would be to hide...except the creature went under now, so below deck would probably be the worst option.
He attempts to find cover right inside the doorway leading lower down, only moving if he finds himself blocking too many people from going through quickly.

"We have to get out of here. Unless it's a captured PKmon it will likely have friends hanging around. Killing one Gyrados isn't more important than our mission. Everyone to the landing craft, I'll go yell at the soldiers to man the guns. Laying down some suppressing fire should help mask our escape and kill that over grown seasnake."

Anastasia follows close behind, making sure to stay within cover and out of view of the shore. She bites her lip at first sight of the terrible PKmon- partially from natural fear, and partially from the fact that she began to see the men had the right of it. Somehow a set of biological weapons had been forged that could unravel the threads of modern society. What world leader could travel outside with such a creature at another's beck and call? A world of shadows would be born, and she would be certain to find the best hiding spots for her great country.

While perfectly capable of making her own decisions, she decides to defer to Red's obvious experience on boarding the landing craft. It was not entirely unlikely that he was the main source of the US's latest intel on the creatures...

Dr. Carver watches the others firing with abandon at the gigantic monster, glad that there seems to be no shortage of willing combatants. He presses himself against the nearest cover he can find, craning his neck to watch the fight. His ears ring from the gunfire, and he coughs as smoke drifts past his head. As the wave crashes over the deck, he just barely has enough time to grab the nearest rail and the handle of the trauma kit before salt water splashes over him.

The call to run to the launch immediately thereafter is welcome, to say the least. He looks around briefly, trying to find the correct launch, then follows Red when he sees where he is running to, bag trailing along behind him.

"Good choice, now come on. The sooner we get out of here the sooner we can get our own PKmon. Though I doubt you would want that monster's prevolved state. It's basically a useless goldfish before it turns into, well That."

By the time you arrive, one of the craft has already been rolled off the side of the Mcarthy, and is being lowered into the rolling ocean. A few experimental motorized liferafts have already been deployed with soldier retinues. They are already in route to shore which is barely visible on the horizon. Your forces are far outside the intended deployment range and the Mcarthy's guns are still out of range of the beach. Still it becomes clear that deploying early was the right decision, as the monster resurfaces withing a few moments of the loading process beginning on the landing craft.

Landing craft:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_Craft_Mechanized

"CONTACT! 7 OCLOCK"

The creature is not visible to you from your current position as the command deck of the battleship is between you and it though from what you have seen of the ship in the week you have been aboard, the creature's current position denies several of the mounted gun's fire arcs. The available guns open fire for a moment before another Blinding white flash ignites behind the ship's command deck, illuminating the sky above you. The ship shudders and rocks violently as the air around you once again becomes searing hot and a plume of fire rises from the stern of the ship.

A few different voices appear over the intercom

"DIRECT HIT PROPULSION SYSTEM DISABLED"

"LOCK THE AFT GUN ON THAT THING BEFORE IT MOVES AGAIN!!!!"

A grinding is felt below decks as the massive aft mounted gun rotates to target the beast. The ship begins to rock side to side as the damaged motors running through the ship attempt to stabilize the system. The crew are quick to load the landing craft as they toss in boxes and boxes of equipment while the crew starts the engines of the vessel, priming them before it hits the water. A few of the soldiers go out of their way to assist you or in some cases even carry you into the launch. They are evidently not yet accustomed to the fact that you are far from helpless children. As soon as the boat is fully loaded with equipment and soldiers, the craft is dropped into the water. Dropped here, is the operative word as the officer in charge of the craft is forced to fire his gun on the cable winch to release the craft after one of the motors jams under the stress. The back of the craft slams into the water from a ten foot drop before jumping as the motors kick in to accelerate the craft away from the crippled ship. As this ship leaves the proximity of the McCarthy, you can already see signs that the ship is on her last legs as the back of the ship appears to be far lower than the front. The Aft gun fires at the creature which you can no longer see as it is behind the craft. A bellowing roar, almost as loud as the gun itself, tells you that the attack was far from unnoticed.

As you get further from the ship your minds turn to more immediate concerns, primarily the overcrowding as you and the soldiers are packed like sardines in the craft that is being violently rocked back and forth by the waves due to the flat bottom

(roll con checks)

Your craft soon links up with the other crafts deployed by the transport ships. Even though you are away from the monster you are far from safe. As your craft approach shore one of the launchcraft and a few of the rafts capsize in the waves? Or were they pulled down? some of the soldiers swear they saw something... This is confirmed when one of the men on your ship leans over to vomit before being lashed around his neck by a 12 foot tentacle and is dragged screaming toward the water. The men nearest to him grab his legs and pull back but you are helpless to watch from the back of the boat as he is torn in half by the combined force of the tentacle at his neck and the soldiers at his legs.

The waves relent as you pass a few small breakwater atolls, alleviating one of your concerns but you are left with another problem. The first launch craft of the battlegroup to arrive start sparking and rocking before they hit the beach as they are hit with heavy machinegun fire from fortified concrete bunkers on the beach ahead of you. At this distance you cant see the details but the screams tell you all you need to know as the first crafts land and deploy their payloads. as your ship approaches shore it is riddled with gunfire just like the ones before it, prompting everyone in the craft to huddle down as much as they can. The landing craft holds under the machine gun fire but as soon as the hatch drops the machine gun fire tears into the men in the front of the craft turning them into curry. The men behind them in line fare little better as the soldiers in front of them offer little resistance. Bullets blow straight through the soldier's bodies in front of you. You are at the back of the craft. Some of the men between you and the front decide to leap over the into the water. The machine guns turn to train themselves on those men. The next few seconds are a blur as you make your ways through the crowds of soldiers through the boat or leap over the side and take your chances in the water. Instinct takes over for the time it takes you to get your feet on shore. You snap out of fight or flight mode as you take cover behind a sand mound. It is high enough to give you cover as you survey the situation. It appears that around a quarter of the men you brought have made it to the beach to put up a fight. The enemy in front of you is outnumbered but has a superior advantage from their position and preparation.

The beach is around 50 yards long with a few concrete bunkers constructed at the tree line overlooking the beach. The machine guns are buried in these bunkers. A few dozen men with bolt action rifles near the bunkers and tree lines return fire at your forces as the sand around you bursts from the impact of bullets. The beach is covered in sand dunes large enough to take cover behind. The remaining men from the deployment craft point to the sky and shout obscenities. Looking up, you see what appear to be birds the size of horses with men riding on their backs firing one handed guns down on your men. A squad ahead of you from another deployment craft charges a bunker before clearing it out with a flamethrower. They take cover under the rim of the bunker before firing a gout of flame in. You hear screams from within as a group of soldiers run from the bunker completely engulfed in napalm before falling to the ground in cinders. A bestial roar from within the bunker draws your attention as another gout of flame is fired from within the bunker onto your men. The soldiers who were taking cover in that unfortunate position immediately retreat into machine gun fire where they are cut down. The dunes are clearly no safer either. You watch as a group of soldiers further ahead of you tries to hide behind one only to have a large hooked claw burst out of the dune impaling one soldier, dragging him screaming into the sand. Before the other soldiers can react, the beast is gone, though this doesn't stop the soldiers from emptying their clips into the sand around them.

Your eyes dart, searching for options of where to go. In front of you are a bunker on your left already taken by your soldiers an officer and a few of his retinue are hunkered down under its lip frantically looking at a map and pointing and shouting. At a particularly large dune on your right, a squad of soldiers has taken cover behind it and are unloading a box containing some sort of heavy weapon. Finally, you hear them before you can see them, a high pitched screaming followed by a burning roar as a salvo of missiles flies overhead before impacting the enemy lines at the beach. The machinegun fire stops temporarily as the enemy runs for cover and breaks ranks to flee from these weapons which may as well be your divine intervention. The weapons were part of the McCarthy's complement. They were probably launched as one last hurrah from the remaining crew. You cant let them go to waste. Its time to act...

Of course, that was put out of her mind when she snapped to the task at hand. She was on a beachfront as a child without a weapon. She even lacked a helmet; all she could do was act like the others and keep her head down. This didn't keep her from being a bit insufferable.

Bullets fly over your heads in both directions as you move forward. It appears the enemy did not consider the children running up the beach a significant threat - more of an oddity than anything. A few people of the enemy in front of you who level their rifles on you are brought down by automatic fire from your own men. It appears, they are holding rank and following their orders despite the horrors they have just witnessed. You finally reach the lines after a long sprint. With their ranks broken, only a few men remain to stand in your way. Realizing hoe close youve gotten, three men in front of you drop their rifles as their hands dart back to draw sidearms, german antiques from the last World War, and... what look like grenades. All three of them hurl their grenades, scattering at their feet. Each of you spreads out to avoid the explosion that never come. Instead, each of the grenades flashes brightly with a red colored light. When you look back, where each grenade landed, now stands a creature, definately one of these PKmon.

The monsters seem slightly confused as they are brought out of their devices, and the soldiers seem unwilling to take the first shots at children. They seem to be waiting to see what happens.

((You add your dex to any projectile that enters the target if you're proficient))

The target shudders and clutches his chest as your bullets impact his chest but he raises his gun to fire again
((After the tommorow at 6ish))

Slinging his hunting rifle off his back, the young hunter fires a shot off, falling over with the recoil that he was not used to in this new body

(Sorry for my absence, everyone.)

Jeph is thankful that the soldiers don't question the presence of the large medical bag any more than they do the guns. He doesn't have much of a sense of direction or a head for maps, and has no real idea which way is the correct or ideal way, or how far this city the soldier mentions is. The others seem to have things reasonably under control however, and so he follows behind, rolling the trauma kit along behind him and eyeing the small purple creature as it runs off into the undergrowth. As the shotgun is raised, he tenses, and jumps at the sound of it firing. He moves as soon as he sees that the soldier isn't dead, moving to the side of the little trail and going prone in an attempt to avoid any stray gunfire. Beyond keeping his head down, there is little he can do right now but wait and hope that the sudden attack does not leave anyone badly injured - other than the soldier, of course.
