It is my understanding that no matter what class you are as undead, you get a d12 for hit points per level.

Is this the same for outsiders? Do they get d8 for hit points, regardless of class?

no to both.
some specific undead templates change your hit dice this is not the case for all types of undead take a look at the mummy lord for an example of one that does not convert hit dice.

As far as i know no outsider template changes your hit dice

Nope. Unless it's otherwise specified, those are for racial hit dice. Class hit dice are calculated separately. For instance, if you took a level of a d12 hit die class with an Outsider with 3 RHD, your HD would be 3d8+1d12.

Why are the 1st Level Tiefling and Aasimar Warriors listed in the MM as having d8 hit points then? Wouldn't they be ECL 2 but have d10 hit points?

Because they have the warrior class which uses d8. Not to be confused with Fighter.

Warrior is using the NPC class (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/npcClasses/warrior.htm), which gets a d8 hit die per class level.

Didn't even realize there was a difference. So let us say someone is playing a Necropolitan Wizard. They actually get d4 without constitution modifiers for hit points, each level?

IIRC, you'd get all d12's, without a con mod, for each level.

Correct.

The necropolitan template states that previous hit dice are changed to d12, without mentioning future hit dice (unlike lich and vampire templates, which explicitly do). My understanding is that this is commonly houseruled into future hit dice. We had a discussion (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14310288) on this a short while ago.

Thank you! This is exactly what was confusing me the most. This helped a lot!
