Why did the MinMax forums close down?

I didn't realize this was happening until the day of reckoning had already passed, so I'm just curious what went on behind the scenes.

Did the website crash?
Did they take it down for maintenance and intend to put it back up?
Did they run out of money for a server?
Is it down permenantely?
