I just recently (last few months) started playing D&D with a handful of friends. Although I do know people who play 4e, my friends and I prefer the rules of 3.5 and already have a tangible supplemental for 3.5.

However, we can't find a single place to buy actual 3.5 books. We have most of them in pdf format, but only a single supplement in solid form. I need to get my hands on the core books, though (DM Guide, Players Handbook, Monster Manual, or any of the other main books, like the completes, etc.)

Does anyone know where I can buy some sort of redbox or starter set containing the core books, or just where I can buy the core books themselves?

Local gaming shops, secondhand book stores, eBay, Craigslist, amazon. Those are the big easy suggestions.

Outside of auction sites like Ebay, you are probably out of luck. It's just too old, by now, and long out of print.

I already checked amazon and none of the listings show a buy option, only secondhand retailer options for ridiculous prices (like $100-800) as for craigslist. Not many in my area, but I am considering it (even thought they want high prices for 1 or 2 used books) I haven't gotten a chance to go to bookstores and things (well I checked one a couple weeks ago but it only had 4e and pathfinder, and I do plan on getting pathfinder) but I live in the countryside so it's hard to find bookstores and gameshops as is.

They just released reprints of the core three 3.5 books, and the Spell Compendium.
