My DM is running a 20th lvl dungeon crawl he's pulling out all the stops. i'll be playing a wizard focused on conjuration with a few of the other schools mixed in. I need spells gentlemen, and he wants us to power-game, any suggestions? the help is greatly appreciated.

Your DM is running a level 20 dungeon for new players who are spellcasters? Good grief.

I'm sorry, but my best suggestion is to simplify first and learn how to play the game, level up a character etc. This will give you the experience necessary to even manage your spell list and handle basic movement rules before you start getting torn to shreds by Red Dragons.

How would you know if the players are new to the game or not?

Haha.. I agree with that so much. Other than that, you will certainly want to spend plenty of time reading Wizard handbooks.

Logic Ninja's Wizard guide (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104002).

Ultimate spell list (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19538942/Ultimate_Spell_List).

Wizard's handbook (http://community.wizards.com/go/thread/view/75882/19869222/The_Wizards_Handbook).

All very useful.

It's a pretty safe bet that someone asking very general questions about spells, rather than specific questions has little knowledge on spellcasting in general. No worry's though, we can help total noobs too, if with nothing other than pointing them to resources.

At the very least the OP is a new player because he says so. If the rest of the group is letting a new player play a 20th level optimized caster it's pretty easy to infer that they're also new for not convincing him to play something more reasonable.
