We've only done a short introduction session so far, haven't even got to the first actual fight yet. I figured I'd start this now anyway though, just to introduce the characters and the setup.
The party:

Ragnor the Solitary: human barbarian 4/Fist of the Forest 1. Maxed out constitution to give himself just under 80 hp at level 5. Also has a move speed of 50. Absolutely nothing of worth mentally though.

Treya: sparrow Hengyokai warlock 5. The player`s promised not to completely abuse the system and break the game. I may have to keep an eye on her anyway, I looked it over and I don't think there`s much in the first 3 chapters she couldn't solo if she played carefully.

Parker Richardson: shifter ranger 5. Going for waretouched master. The player had just watched Life of Pi before naming the character.

Nika: changeling conjuror. Using master specialist, I can't remember if she's already taken levels in it or not.

Lazav: changeling rogue, focusing on crossbows and non-combat infiltration and espionage.

Fredric Charles Von Clause: human cloistered cleric 5, worshipping the Sovereign Host and going for the Sovereign Speaker prestige class. He hails from Aundare.

The Trip In

The characters were heading into the Eliser Vale in three separate groups. Treya had been on a long journey with Ragnor and Parker, travelling all the way from Q'barra, through Kaarnath and Thrane and back around for the final trip into western Breeland. Nika and Lazav were coming in from Sharn together, along with a House Cannith representative Daniel D'Cannith. Finally, Fredric was travelling on his own from Aundair.

The game started with all the characters gathering together for the final leg on their journey to the Eliser Vale. They'd seen each other on the Lightning Rail trip down, but now found themselves stuck together on the final carriage ride down. With nothing else to do during the several hour trip into the Eliser Vale, they spent a little time talking amongst themselves and introduced the reasons they were all heading towards the Vale.

Treya gathered together her little group after a dream where she witnessed a giant forest fire. One by one, giant serpentine heads made of fire and smoke grew out of the fire, until five of them towered over the countryside. They began striking out, destroying entire cities in a single strike, until her vision was overcome by flames. When she could see again, all that was left was a ruined, burned vista, and a single hobgoblin with blue scales standing proud amidst all of it. She eventually identified the area as western Breeland, and with the help of a little magic, the Eliser Vale. She gathered Ragnor and Parker as two of the most impressive warriors in the region and set out to find out what her dream meant.

Fredric was also inspired by a dream. He had seen a blast of fire, a bolt of lightning, a stream of acid, a toxic green cloud and a hail of ice. Following this was visions of a small valley, with several villages scattered through it. A final, ominous whisper echoed over everything; "Five Sorrows." Upon waking up, he did some research, identifying Five-Sorrows as the translation of the draconic name for Tiamat, a demonic overlord with close connections to dragons. He also managed to identify the Eliser Vale, and set out on his own to figure out what was going on.

Nika and Lazav were actually hired to go to the Eliser Vale. A pair of changeling troubleshooters who occasionally worked together, they were approached by House Cannith, the foremost makers of magical and mundane gear on the continent of Khorvaire. It turns out that someone had attacked one of their warehouses, wiped out the guards and stolen a large amount of magical equipment. Potions, scrolls, low levelled weapons and armour, along with a few more notable items. Investigations weren't turning up much, though some of the equipment was turning up in the area around the Eliser Vale, so members of the house decided to grab a few adventurers to go and check things out for them. On top of the information above, the two adventures they hired know that at least one dragon was involved in the attack and a few golems were taken as well. This information has not been shared with anyone else yet though.

After discussing their reasons for heading to the Vale, the group was warned by the driver that he'd spotted something moving in the treeline along the road, and he'd feel more comfortable if the group went a bit ahead to check out the area. Leaving Daniel and the driver behind, the six set out ahead to scout around.

And that's where we left off. Most of the session was dedicated to finishing off characters and helping the people who'd never played before get to know the rules. I felt this also let the players get used to the characters a bit and allowed them to introduce themselves in character. It looks like it's off to a good start. We play again in a few days, so we'll see how it runs from here. I'm a little worried about how well most of the party will be able to hold up, Ragnor and Parker are the only members with a strength modifier. Of the others, only the wizard has a score of 10; Fridric, Treya and Lazev all have 9 or less. The hit point totals are also fairly low for the group, with three members having 20 or less hit points. Fredric and Parker both have over 30, but Ragnor breaks the curve with 78. Focusing Con and some really good rolls really gives him a lot of health to work with.
