In a game I am co-DMing we are planning on introducing an advanced version of the warforged.

I have been working on it a little but it just does not "feel right".
Simply adding stats is lame; adding class levels not the point; giving a template, may be.
Is there somewhere an Advanced version?

The Idea comes from the episode Star Trek Voyager "Drone (http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/One)"

Any suggestions are welcome.

In the MM III, there are a couple of Warforged variants. Scout and Jugernaught, if memeory serves. Maybe they can be of assistance?

Here's a list of warforged components. (http://eberron.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_warforged_components) Maybe they could be of some inspiration.

On a similar note, grafts might be the way to go. Checkout the Maug grafts from MMII, specifically the Maug Stone Spitter. It's basically a shoulder mounted cannon.

Warforged Charger might be what you are looking for. Also consider giving them levels in the Warforged Juggernaut PrC.

I don't think the warforged varriants from MM3 are the way to go: The warforged charger is fluffed as a more primative version of modern day warforged. It is more phsyically powerful than a standard (1st level) warforged, but it's dumb as a ton of bricks. As for the scout, it's just a mini-me version of the standard model.

One thing out of MM3 I would consider, though, is the spellwarped template. It gains bonuses to most ability scores and spell resistance that allows it to absorb spells that fail to penetrate it. Technically, it can't be applied to constructs (I think) but if you're the DM, you could waive that. Also, you could remove the "horribly twisted by magic" fluff from it if you want.

PF has the Advanced (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/bestiary/monster-listings/templates/advanced-creature-cr-1) template.

Alternatively you could look at some of the golems and make some minor mechanical and fluff changes, decrementing HD if necessary.

Is this an Eberron game? Because the only guys still making new warforged are doing so in secret and in small numbers. The most likely place for one to come from would be an ancient quorcraft model.

EDIT: ...or maybe a unit produced just before the end of the war, that's been in the Mournland until now. In this case the Lord of Blades might be one, which would give you something to base their abilities on.

Maybe a warforged with a bound elemental "engine", giving it one of the Elemental Creature templates?
