The world of Scorum looms over you as your ship departs from Feinheld, an enormous world glowing a dim red. Your ship, an Arthro Nc-12 Jumper, looks like a huge flea springing off the jungle-covered world.

You have each received a letter with instructions to board this ship. It will take you to the University of Greenheart, a prestigious establishment for grammarists.

Please submit a post in which you introduce yourself to the others.

A tall, red tattooed Gith speaks:
"Greetings fellow travellers. I am Temugin Aleg'ri, and I hail from Queue. You've probably heard of it." He winces as the ship leaves Feinheld, obviously not used to the stresses of intersphereical travel."Under what suns did you grow?"

Orange for Temugin.

Avictus sniffs with disdain as the scent of monkey fills his nose, a smell he was slowly growing accustomed to his immense displeasure
"I am Doctor Avictus Beration. And I come from no sun, I...Nevermind, I come from Feinheld, yes...I have spent all of my mortal life down on that planet below us.
Why do these fools insist on carting us around in interstellar voyagers best suited to exploring new sectors and not use interdimensional portals for much faster transit. Why, we would already be there by now if there was a Semispace Corridor linking the two worlds."
The doctor looks Human, apart from the sharp claws where his hands would be, serrated and lethally sharp, yet they are as prehensile as normal human hands.
"Please don't mind the claws, I believe I can suppress them soon enough, I just need practise."

Valdemar blinks and looks at the other with mild curiosity. Going out of the lab was... not fun. It was noisy and smelly. Probably anti-hygienic he made a mental note of protect himself from the sun, the orange radiation might be bad for his sensible skin.

-Victor - Valdemar was a well enough name on Gammel so he tended to introduce himself obviating it, attention was a distraction from his work - I am from Gammel. As for the reason of using this...

Valdemar gave a slight nod towards the spelljammer. He didn't look pleased, it almost seemed as if he was developing a small claustrophobia.

-Some people might like flying bathtubs.

The man looks at the others studying them for a moment, a flinch of interest shines in his eyes when contemplating the claws but his focus quickly fades and he opens a book, and starts to read.

The Unerrving sight, Of a Girl with more eyes then should be, is mostly standing in the shadows, not paying much attention to anything.
'Yes, Hello, And all that, I am Nyarla, So yeah."

A blonde-haired young man comes to stand by Aviticus. "Heey, friend! Are you coming to the academy of Greenheart too? I heard they're just... amazing. They've got these real cool buildings and stuff." He tosses a fruit core over the railing.

"Anyone know anything about the sphere Greenheart is in? I confess I somewhat neglected studying the environs before applying to the university."

Valdemar took a look at the newcomers, it seems than demihuman creatures are quite normal, probably the university doesn't have a lot of racial standards, and then addressed the question of the Gith.

-Grenheart is a big spherical sun, Green, probably named after that.

With a pale smile the young man adds.

-It has formed part of the Gammel Republic for quite a long time, of course, we aren't actually going to the sun, I hope. There a few habitable asteroids around it. Other than that... they make nice fried grog, it's quite a delicacy.

Valdemar liked fried grog, he used to it at the lab all the time.

The ship passes the black walls of the crystal sphere. Outside, the brilliant colors of the phlogiston flicker from every direction. You have a strange sensation of your stomach dropping out from where it ought to be and then coming back in from the top as the ship blasts into the flow. It's a two-day journey to Bluespace and then another day to Allspace. The ship has been sailing for only twenty hours, however, before another ship looms out of the mists. It's a Standard Lr-14 skiff, painted black and with a Red Skull flag flying from the flagpole.
You have 12 hours of time awake that you can use to prepare grammaric principles. After that, it's war.

Dr. Beration will settle down and begin to fiddle with some metal, crafting 4 Semispaces set to follow him before sleeping.
Forming a greyish barrier on his chest as they face inwards

"It would appear we have company. Good, their blood will help focus my ascension, then I might be able to mutate my claws into hands.
So what are the boarding protocols? Do we wait for them to cripple our ship and board us or is there some way we can meet them in hand-to-hand combat before our ship is irrevocably damaged?"

An officer runs up on the deck. "Alarm! Pirate ship incoming!" he cries. "All hands, battle stations! If you are not involved in the ship's defense, get to the lower decks!" He turns to you. "Are you going to help defend the ship?"

The Nc-12's auxiliary engines fire, sending a jolt through the ship. Even so, the Lr-14 steadily closes on you. It will arrive in four rounds.

The officer loads a large crossbow. "The pirate ship is smaller, but it is likely loaded with ballistic engines and is probably more maneuverable, as well. They'll take advantage of that and try to board us."

"Excellent. I do believe I can be your anti-boarding defenses. Focus fire on their populated sections, the more casualties your ship-to-ship weapons can do to the lifeforms the less boarders they can spare, reducing the likelihood of one of your men falling in battle."
The doctor stands, his claws glinting in the light as he grins

Before the attack, Temugin found time to place an illusion of a breastplate on his chest. Logically, if enemies see the breastplate, they should be slightly put off attacking him as opposed to any less armored people.
[roll0] for the bluff check.

"They attack us? Ajak'ai't? Boarders? They will rue the day! I will join the defence." Temugin joins Beration, hefting his handaxe.
"Ta'vark, no ceasefire!"
Linguistics Note:
I'm using this thread (http://www.planewalker.com/forum/gith-languages-0) I found for any Gith I use.

Valdemar grabs his crossbow, loading it, setting the bayonet just in case some of those enemies approach more than is needed.

He also checks his knowledge on those... space invaders. Helping is risky, a stray bolt might hit him and that would be the end of poor young Valdemar. At least he would leave a nice looking corpse. Of course, not helping might be worse, sometimes just a bolt makes the difference, and if he had to fight he would rather fight with the security of the flight at his side rather than scared civilians.

-We can help, I guess, although I normally get paid for my services. What are those boarders? Humans? Dwarfs?

The pirates' skiff attempts to fly over the top of your ship, to stay out of cannon range. In response, your ship turns sideways to align with the other ship, although its hull is now facing the opposite direction as the skiff. As the ships align, two githzerai and a larger humanoid propel themselves from the skiff toward your vessel.

The first volley of cannon shots fly between the ships as the pirates grab the railing and hoist themselves over.

wow are we at melee range already? I expected to have a minute to ready a weapon augmentation. Of bane (ghitzerai)

Victor ducks hiding behind one of the tables and kneeling while he takes his crossbow and points it towards the door. His finger dance over the surface of the weapon finishing one incantation.

The man casually blocks the swing of the axe with his own greatsword. Then he swings it at Temugin with the same motion.

One githzerai comes at Aviticus. The first jabs at him with his rapier. The other circles around and does the same to Temugin, flanking him.

Victor panicked when Temugin exhaled, he wasn't a strong man, he wasn't a warrior. And even if he disliked running this seemed to be one really good moment to practice it.

He looks around for an exit that isn't blocked by boarders.

Being on the deck of the ship, you are essentially surrounded by escape routes, including a door that leads inside.

Both ships rock as another volley of shots flies between them. The pirates' skiff has taken significant damage, and closes on your ship, preparing to ram.

Three arrows fly at the largest boarder, shot by a group of crew members. One buries itself in the man's shoulder but the others ricochet off his studded leather armor.

2013-02-13, 07:03 PM
Since Victor isn't at melee he bolts running for his life, faster than his small legs should be able to propel him, putting as much distance as he can between himself, the boarders and the ramming skiff.

To each man his own.

he is actually taking a run action

Proud Tortoise
2013-02-14, 09:31 AM
The arthro jumper suddenly flips over, using the inertia from its long legs to place its main bulk "under" the ramming ship, which hits a leg and is now drifting under the jumper's underbelly. Everyone is thrown sideways by the sudden roll.

Make a balance check or move 5 ft toward the railing.

Balance [roll0]

Regardless of the result Victor keeps running until he founds a bottle neck at least 120 feet from the boarding party. A door that he can barricade to cover himself from the boarders, will work, as long as he still has a way to run. If he gets to one he will put a table or something on the ground, giving himself cover and hide behind it, pointing his crossbow towards the githyanki.

(@DM: You forgot to roll cover, I have 4 Semispaces across my chest to provide defence bonuses)

Staggering back with a glare Avictus looks at his claws
"Right, forgot this pitiful place was restricted to 3 dimensions. His idea of irony I suppose. Recalculating attack trajectories."

swiping again with his claws the good doctor lets out a yell of anger, enraged by the terrible wounds inflicted on him
