How good is the generic spellcaster from Unearthed Arcana? The spontanious casting from spells chosen from the Sorc/wiz, cleric, and druid lists seems like it would be a decent batman class. The ability to grab class features form other classes makes it look like a good choice for a 1 level dip for prestige classes.

It's basically a much more powerful sorcerer, but arguably not quite tier 1 because it's a spontaneous caster.

It's Sorcerer+.
The best thing about it is that it can cast all of those spells as either arcane or divine, so there are quite a few of them that would be interesting to learn.

IMO, it makes a great gish on the premise of using divine power to heighten bab, wraithtouch to make touch attacks, Possibly greater mighty whallop if one uses a bludgeoning attack (Fists or a club work damn well). Throw heroism up there and GOD DAMN.

Using incantatrix for all day persistable spells would rock.

So, in honesty, it makes a HORRIBLE batman. It is stuck by its choices, but the choices are pretty sweet. If anything, it's captain america. Not overly strong, but has some neat features that contribute to executing a concept well.

It's all about having a focused thematic spell list so that one can use that to roleplay well. Want a frost mage? Spellcaster is awesome for that. Want a god? Not there yet.
