I need help creating an Archer that is compentent, but not necessarily AWESOME-Pun-Pun-killer-infinite-loop-user-GM-cryer. He must be a fun character to play next to a simple bard and a power attack barbarian.

I need some suggestions on itens, feats, classes, builds etc that a ranged attacker may have to be nice and playable on 3.0 + 3.5.

He has 13th level and regular WBL.

I just didn't want him to be a spellcaster if possible...

Can you help me on this? Thanks in advance, peoples!

That's almost everything you need. If the party isn't especially high-OP, just make a Swift Hunter build (see the above link), use Manyshot a lot and get the Splitting enhancement on your bow.

And actually... yes, yes you do want him to be a spellcaster. Even if it is just 1st level Ranger spells. Sorry.

Well, I don't have much time, but I can give a basic rundown of what I know is relatively competent.

Scout/Ranger with the Swift Hunter Feat (Allows levels to stack for Skirmish/Favored Enemy).

Add on for flavor the basic archery feats (Point Blank Shot, Precise Shot, Rapid Shot, Manyshot, and the Improved or Greater Versions).

I'd help with items and whatnot, but I've got to go. I'm sure someone will take care of it.

Scout/Ranger with the Swift Hunter Feat (Allows levels to stack for Skirmish/Favored Enemy).

Optimal balance of the two (IMO) would be Scout 5, Ranger 15 (scout 4, ranger 1, scout 1, ranger 14)

Thanks everybody!

I created the archer I wanted with several of those tips.
