Squirrel Tries Again!

Well, A few months back I tried an art thread here, and unfortunately hit a bit of a snag and couldn't keep it up. <;_;> However things have changed since then and I'm doing a fair bit better now. So I'm going to give this art thing another shot!

I'd revitalize the old thread but for two reasons: 1) I promised a pic a day in that thread, and that was a bad choice on my part, I just can't keep that kind of schedule yet. 2) Said thread has sunk to the bottom of the forums anyway, I don't feel it'd be right to dig it up.

So we're going to start fresh. < ._.> You can find most of the pieces from the previous thread on my Deviantart page, in my handy-dandy signature, and I'll be posting new pieces here via Photobucket, as well as on DA (so you can check them out however you prefer.)

And uhm... so here we go, first of the new pieces using my trial of OpenCanvas.

Couple of my fantasy novel characters done in modern clothes < . .> No particular reason, this was just for fun.

Overall I'm pretty happy with it - Ame (the grey haired one) is flawed here I admit, but there's enough good about this piece I felt it worth showing.

Anyhoo, the art must flow <o.o> so uhm... more art as soon as I get around to it.

I really, really like how the orange haired one turned out, and would like to see more art of her! No doubt I'd feel the same way about the grey haired one if it turned out the way you had planned! Keep up the good work, and let us see moar!

..Do you mind if I use your stuff as an image reference? I've never been good at humans, and even worse at kemonomimi. I promise I wont steal it as my own and sell it for thousands of dollars :smallbiggrin:.

This is a baby raptor from World of Warcraft - part of a fun questline I did today. This was done super-fast, and I have little experience with animals (let alone dinosaurs); but for the 45 minutes I spent on it, I'm happy with it.

Still working on another piece, I'll probably restart that one though as I've become deeply unhappy with the lines for it.

Really cute! My only qualm is that the claw which is closest to us actually appears smaller than the one that is farther. You should really make it bigger, or it gets confusing to the eyes.

Yeah >< I noticed that too, but by the time I noticed it, fixing it would have been rather difficult without a massive rework. Worthwhile for a bigger more elaborate piece, but for something I'm just tossing together I didn't think it was worth it. (maybe that's a mistake though)

Either way I gotta find some way to catch these mistakes sooner.

I've not drawn many men, and the size is much smaller than what I'm used to working at >.< Still, there are aspects I like (the face, the musculature of the arms and chest - imperfect as it is)

Something I noticed, The first image is really well put together, I especially like the style of the red headed one and her hair. Very Nicely Done.

On a side note, I'm not sure if it was intentional but the arm lock they are in is a little choppy, its not bad enough to hurt the image, but it is a little noticable.

All in all you did a Grand job, Raptor included, and Diggin' the new avatar.

Only thing I really see on the avatar is his expression seems... Confused? I suppose is the word. Its mostly the mouth,

But that raptor is too darn cute.

This is a piece based off my first Pathfinder character, a Kitsune Summoner named Ayako.

Ultimately there are parts of the picture I like (I think I'm starting to get my head proportions right - although she looks a twinge younger than intended here) - and parts I don't like (the shading is weak, I should have gone for a full body image because I spend way too much time doing portraits)

So overall it's about 50-50.

That said I'm posting this mostly because it's my first ever piece using ArtRage. I like the program quite a bit, though I'm still getting the hang of it. The layout is nice though, so I'll probably be using it quite a bit in the near future. Probably be paying around with the oil paint and watercolor tools as well, things I've always wanted to mess with.

It's a logo for my clan in World of Tanks - the Legion of Catgirls: Armored Division >_> (We're an old COH Supergroup that has chapters all over now that COH is dead)

It's deliberately VERY simple because it's going to show up very tiny in-game. So no shading, no highlights, only very big broad shapes for the most part. I'm hoping the friends I made it for will like it.

This one is Ellie Chromenut, a gnomish tinkerer, and her robot pal XAB-1P. It's... flawed, heavily so; but I like it enough to put it up.

My hands have been really shaky lately, blame the medicine I been taking. <x.x> Still, keeping at it.
