What we need is a Muppets movie adapting Faust, in the tradition of The Muppets Christmas Carol, The Muppets Treasure Island, and The Muppets Wizard of Oz. David Bowie would be Doctor Faustus.

I really don't see how Faust is remotely appropriate for a Muppet movie.

It isn't. I think that's why he's suggesting it, perhaps in jest.

I meant it half in jest. I seriously doubt it would ever actually happen, and it probably wouldn't work.

That being said, with some modification, it could maybe be an interesting experiment. Best leave out Gretchen.

They did it on Wishbone (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MA4DTCRIXDU) so I don't see why not.

If its done based on Goethe's Faust, there can be enough characters.

My mind is still trying to wrap around this idea and I saw the thread title hours ago.

How could you leave out Gretchen? That's the part of the story most people like and actually recognize.

You might as well do Muppet Shakespeare while you're at it.

The Muppets: Twelfth Night would be spectacular.

Why not? A Mupsummer Night's dream could be fun. Maybe even Mupbeth.

I'd pay to see Miss Piggy as Lady Macbeth

You're right though, if they can handle the Christmas Carol or Treasure Island, they can do Goethe or Shakespeare. The important element is having a top class human actor to share the stage with like Caine or Curry. I prefer their adaptations of classics over their usual stuff anyways.

Edit: A modern iteration of Dante's Divine Comedy -- with Muppets -- would be lovely.

Get Danny Elfman to do the music and...and...

Huh. :smallconfused:

I keep throwing money at my monitor, but nothing's happening.

Surely you mean except for Walpurgisnacht and that bit with the warriors, because I thought both of them were way more interesting. The Gretchen part was from the lame half of the book.

I would love to see something like this. I wouldn't be truly impressed, though, unless they get over half an hour into the movie before they make a Nazi joke. :smalltongue:
