Ladies and Gentlemen, gamers of all ages, welcome to the GURPS homebrew thread! Hopefully you came here of your own free will, but if you accidentally clicked on this thread, that's fine. Now, no matter what your reason for coming to this thread, its a great opportunity to view a portion of gaming that is...less represented on this forum. Before we get down to the details of homebrewing, we should cover some basics...

So, let's talk a bit about the Generic Universal Roleplaying System.

What is it? That's both an easy and hard question to answer. First off, its a point-based system. That means no classes, or races...well not specifically. The game does offer templates, which are optional, and there are Talents from the GURPS Powers book. But most of all, keep the idea of anything you want to build in your mind.

Wait. So if the game already has everything, why homebrew?
Here's something important to know; Its a Generic System. That means that while anything is possible, its not spelled out for the gamers, which means over half of the game is naturally homebrewing. In addition, not every Advantage or Disadvantage you want is covered in the game. More than likely, there's a cool idea for a spell rattling around in your head that you just need to write out.

That's cool. So why is this thread here?
As you may or may not have noticed, GURPS is mostly untapped on this forum. There was a GURPS thread in the Roleplaying section, but it was nowhere near as busy as the rest of the threads. This thread has two purposes. One, promote GURPS homebrew, and act as a centralized resource for GURPS players. The second purpose is to get people talking about GURPS, by focusing on one of the system's greatest strong-points: the ability to allow the player to build anything.

Now that we've gotten the basics out of the way, let's talk homebrew. Feel free to post small things in spoilers on this thread, like Innate Attacks or Afflictions, along with Templates and Spells. This is not the place to post full character write-ups. The line between Homebrew and the normal game is thin, so there's plenty of room to work. Keep in mind, don't post specific details about things spelled out in the rules. This game doesn't have an SRD, so try to just list the title of the thing you're referencing, and the book/ page number. Example: Allies (BSC, 36) Don't post specifics about how it works. But you can talk about how you use it in your own creation, or how your creation is different.
