So i have been running low level campaigns for my players. and im going to stick in a thunderstone trap. (maybe a few of them).

now i know Deafened is -4 Initiative, Fails all Listen Checks and 20% V casting failure.

but when people in the party are Deaf....i dont see anything about a penalty for communication. im assuming since you auto fail all listen checks you cant hear other people speaking to you. is this a correct assumption?

im also assuming no matter if you are deaf or not people can communicate telepathically with you?

Both your assumptions would be correct. Unless the party has telepathy, or some manner of visual communication (Dancing Lights, Drow Sign Language, etc.) they shouldn't be able to communicate while deafened.
