What are some good mounts for Large characters? Can they be bought or do you have to train them?

They will have to be Huge for starters. Elephants could work.

basically find any creature with the animal or beast type that is at least 1 size bigger than you and slap on the war beast template from MM2.
to buy one of those costs 50 gp/HD for under 3 HD or 100 gp + 75gp/HD for 4HD or more.
to train one yourself depends on the animal if its domestic the DC's 20 if based off a wild animal the DC's 15+HD followed by another check at 20+HD.
now as for good mounts it depends on what you want it to do.
dire animals are the easiest/ most available choice in most settings something like a dire rhino or dire elk should be easy to find. if dinosaurs are in your setting they make good flavor mounts. if you pick a ground based mount since they are so large already look for something with trample(it may not be the best tactical option but its so cool imo)
if you want a flying mount then it gets a little harder since most standard choices wont be available to you. there is an option that screams out at that size...dragons. there is a price guide for buying them somewhere (but it escapes me right now) they are handle a little differently though. you use diplomacy to convince them but once you do they make powerful ally/mounts.

As above, but combine with a item of expansion should psionics be allowed [and if not, simply say that since your not casting it just using it to have it be created and it could just be a spell you don't know could get it in.]. This will allow standered mounts and for you to ride say, giant bats which just became Huge.

I am a meleeficer. So I could workaround most of the size problems.

well, if you can work around most size problems it then depends on what you want the mount to do.
if you don't want to do a lot of work horses are simple and have a lot of Prc support.
if you want primarily a pack/hauling loot mount then you might consider a bison, elephant or quadrupedal dino
if you wan a flying mount people often pick griffins, hippogriffs, night mares, or an asperi (the good version of a night mare)
