Shopping mall for a psion?

So something am sort of new to, as not a huge power point user and such ( so be nice gentle please)

But if on a budget of about 49,000 gold, what sort of gear for a psion should I be looking into buying?

Kinda depends on the discipline, but mostly just a Headband of Intellect +X and nothing else really that surprising. Maybe a cognizance crystal? I dunno. Psions have received precious little in terms of specific itemization, though a dorje of Body Adjustment is always helpful.

Unless you're going Gish, in which case you should invest in a Psychic Deep Crystal weapon.

Can you craft? If so, and you can invest in crafting cost reducers (see the crafting handbook) (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=7274.0), a psychoactive skin of proteus (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#skinofProteus) is amazing. Note that its base cost is almost twice what you've got, but that's where the crafting cost reducers come in. It'll set you back a bit on XP, as well, but it's worth it. Honestly, even if this is the only item you can get right now, do it. It's worth every copper bit.

As mentioned above, get a headband of Int. A belt of Con won't go amiss either. Also, some +1 manifester arrows (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/weapons.htm#manifesterWeapon) for a cheaply replenishing source of low-cost manifestations are always welcome. A third eye (view) (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#view) is amazing for the cost, as it's easily as useful as a ring of X-ray vision and more. A mithril chain shirt, along with some mithril dastana bracers, a darkwood heavy shield, and a darkwood chahar-aina to boost your AC without introducing an armor check penalty (assuming you have a reasonable Strength score). Enhance them to +1 later, and use armor crystals to get some nice armor abilities on them all. A handy haversack is ALWAYS handy, and if you're a shaper and have Use Psionic Device, see if you can use it on an enveloping pit for a nice 50' deep portable hole. A ring of sustenance is good, as are a ring of feather fall and boots of skating (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/psionic/items/universalItems.htm#bootsofSkating).
