Reasonable homebrew mantles for Ardents, I'm looking for them. Does anyone got any?

ACF ardent (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20070629a) official wizards stuff breaks down the 4 classic elements into 4 mantles, surely someone has done better.

What's with all the Ardent threads? :smalltongue:

Various domains and portfolios are a good place to start. You could also looks at Inquisitions and Subdomains from PF.

Ardents are interesting, the are pretty powerful but require more thought to make than say a psion.

I'll take a stroll thru the domains.

I think it has been mentioned many a time before, but the level of quality control that went into Complete Psionics was sketchy at best, and more along the lines of criminal. While I don't have the mantles at my fingertips, I have designed several high-level ardent NPCs. The mantle powers ranged from interesting to useless, with only a couple qualifying for "good." Moreover, the extreme variation in the number of powers and the levels of those powers in each mantle is kind of the opposite of what one normally think of in terms of balance.

The article on ACFs had a section for substituting/adding powers to mantles that were power deficient, kind of a Customize Domain Mantle feat-ish. If I were you, I would talk to the DM about making mantles more closely resemble similar domains, or significantly customizing at least your primary domain or two. And talk about upgrades for the mantle granted powers. Some of them can contribute minorly to a build, but that is about it. At least as far as I can remember.

This guide (http://www.minmaxboards.com/index.php?topic=1319.0) lists powers that would be good to add/swap into each mantle.
