Not sure where else to post this - I don't have an account on WotC (and don't want one) :) So posting there is tricky. Figured I'd ask opinions around here?

I was just reading things over and trying to build a Monk, but noticed something odd.

Monk's are proficient with quarterstaff, a two handed, double weapon. So if I build a Monk using a quarterstaff, no problem.

Until I try to flurry of blows. :smalleek:

So, flurry of blows only works with unarmed? Can't use it with "monk" weapons?
Just wondering if I'm reading something wrong in this or missed something.

Cheers!

you can't flurry with the staff, but you can flurry with one hand.

thus, you keep the staff at the ready and in use whenever you want in both hands, then simply let go with one hand, flurry of blows with that hand, then grab your staff again.

nowhere does it state you need 2 hands to flurry.

in the playtest we did, my monk had a hatchet in his off-hand specifically so he could use the deflect feat and flurry/falcon punch hurricane blow with the other hand "because 5th ed".
