Well if you're talking about non combat random encounters, we recently encountered a baby in a manger in the middle of a random dungeon. It turned out to be a baby skeleton and anyone who looked at it was magically compelled to protect it.

I always liked the dungeon in which, every locked door we went through, there were (inanimate) skeletons on the other side, skeletons of people who had been trying to get out...

A gold statue of the back half of a cat. If it's picked up something very bad happens.

A life sized golden statue of a Dwarf. Anybody who touches it, moves it, or attempts to fiddle with it in any way gets petrified into gold themselves.
