So, I'm thinking of making a druid, but wild shape doesn't fit the concept. The character will have a companion mount that it rides and will focus on casting.

Are their any variants or feats that replace wild shape or allow for other abilities? I know about the ones from PHBII and Unearthed Arcana.

What would be cool is a feat r something that allows spontaneous metamagic for wildshape uses.

I'd prefer existing sources to house rules if possible.

I'm not trying to gain power here (druids are plenty good), just looking for some cool flavor alternatives.

You probably want some [Wild] feats then, where you expend uses of wildshape for various effects. Most of them are not as good as wildshape itself, which is why you don't hear about them often.

Complete Adventurer has a bunch, so does Complete Champion.

Here's a previous thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=180048) with some advice on wild feats.

Spirit Shaman (CD) + Wild Cohort (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20031118a) could work, it casts from the Druid list but gets more spells/day.

The only one I could find is the one from Dragon Magic - removes Wild Shape (except for Wild Shape: Elemental apparently) and gives you access to various "aspects" of dragons. Small buffs which are activateable (swift action) and last for one hour. Most notable are probably Heart (+4 Con, immunity to paralysis) and Mind (+4 Wis, darkvision 60', immunity to sleep).
