I take six levels of fighter, my BAB is +6/+1. If I start multiclassing, does my second attack not get better because the other class only gets +1? How does that work?

You mean your second iterative? If you take a second class with full BAB, then your 7th level will give you +7/+2 BAB.

Always add the new class' BAB to your highest BAB (non-iterative) number. Then just keep your iteratives in increments of 5 below the highest one.

For example, a Fighter9/Wizard4/Rogue6 would have a BAB of +14 plus two iterative attacks at +9 and +4 (+14/+9/+4).

Ignore the / for a second. Your full BAB increases by the amount given by the class at the level of the class you have taken. For a fighter, they get 1 BAB each level, so a 6th level fighter has 6 BAB. Adding a level of barbarian, which also gains 1 BAB per level, will bring your total BAB to 7. Adding a level of rogue to this would not add a BAB at first, because rogues only get 3/4 BAB per level, and you round down. A second rogue level will add a BAB, or another level of barbarian or fighter (if you are playing with fractional BAB, any class will add another BAB at this point, but that's usually not the case). So, a Fighter 6/Barb 1/Rogue 1 has 7 BAB, while Fighter 6/Barb 1/Rogue 2 has 8.

The /+1 is just your iterative attack. Once your total BAB between classes is 6, you get another attack which adds your total BAB-5 to it. Every 5 BAB thereafter, you get another attack, each time losing another 5 BAB to the attack (so if you were only taking full BAB classes, you would get another at level 11, and one more at level 16).

That makes so much more sense than what I was trying to figure out, thank you so much!

As a note, there are only 10 or so base classes with full BAB progression.
