it's not badly written, evangelist does indeed get to use its abilities all at will. even with this in mind, it's not an especially powerful class. the class stacks with bard for your old bardic powers, but your great orator abilities do not require or consume uses of your bardic music (as you will notice you don't need bardic music to get in)

rules-wise, the only difference is whether you prefer inspire dread or inspire awe.

in my experience, a -4 (untyped!) penalty to enemies' will saves that they can't resist in any way is straight up amazing, especially when compared against +4 sacred bonus to allies' will saves.

since evangelist gives intimidate (one of the few things bards lack) as a class skill, you can even pick up the doomspeak feat from champions of ruin and use a bardic music (assuming you have bard levels) to give an enemy -10 to everything for one round.

round 1) inspire dread (-4 to enemy will save)
round 2) doomspeak (will save vs 10+your character lvl + your cha or -10 to everything)
round 3) you and/or your allies spell the bejeezus out of him with all your SoDs.
