Due to the Druid fiasco, my DM has given me a mulligan to rebuild and retry.

So to make my (and my party's) lives easier, I decided on a diviner build. More specifically:

Human/Silverbrow Human (can't really decide, since they both are made of winberries and awesomesauce) Diviner with Spontaneous Divination 5/Divine Oracle 3/Fatespinner 4/Divine Oracle 7/??? 1

I have one open level I can play with here (Fatespinner and DO are non-negotiable here), and 1 level of Wizard feels like a cop-out. Any ideas for a great 1-level Divination dip that'll give me the most bang for my end-career?

Edit: Forgot a few notes...

1. I am dropping Evocation, simply because I have better things to do with my time.

2. I'm at level 3 with standard WBL.

3. All books made for 3.X are allowed, but I want to keep it as simple as possible, but if anyone has any Metamagic Suggestions/Flaws suggestions/etc. from Dragon Magazine, feel free to leave them here. Just tell me which magazine it's from. Same goes for PrCs.

Paragnostic Apostle - choose Divine Understanding for the Knowledge is Power ability and set it to the Oracle domain.

Master Specialist - fills the casting spot take earlier in the build though. Skill Focus for free is nice. A 3 or 4 level dip wouldn't be that bad either.

Urban Savant - IF you can convince the DM to let you use the Knowledge: History 2 ranks requirement instead of the Bardic Knowledge requirement (although 1 level of Paragnostic Apostle nets you this), then take it. The first level ability is a very nice in combat.

Loremaster - somewhat easy to qualify for if you focus on Divinations. Secret can get you some okay filler.

These really fit the bill, considering that while I am a Specialist Diviner, my In-Combat turns are spent doing Debuff/Save-or-Whatever/Crowd Control.

The Urban Savant's first level ability can benefit the rest of the party too. Knowing your opponent's BAB, AC, combat feats, and special attacks can be useful information.

That is also true, but the DM is a stickler for the class being how it is written.

And on another small side note, I am using Dragon 338's Imbued Staff ACF instead of the Familiar. The Diviner ACFs in Unearthed Arcana didn't wow me, so I thought that the Imbued Staff would be worth having. Besides, if I have to smack a creature with it (not advised), it's a +1 weapon that can deliver a touch spell and holds a 1/day cantrip and 3/day light with no duration. I don't have to blow resources on feeding it, grooming it, or making sure it doesn't die in combat. Plus, I'm a Wizard. A +1 Magic Stick is sufficient. I'm not Gandalf.

Why are you a Diviner when you can already spontaneously cast divination spells? Actually, if you take the Spontanous Divination ACF, then you should not be preparing any divination spells in your spell slots ever.

I see that you've dropped Evocation. Dropping Enchantment and picking up a worthwhile school of magic to focus in wouldn't be a hard hit to your spells either if you're interested in "Debuff/Save-or-Whatever/Crowd Control".

I'm hanging onto Enchantment because of spells like Monsterous Thrall, Dominate, Suggestion, and the like.

And while I am preparing the "Classics" for my bonus slots (and only my bonus slots), things like True Strike and situational Divinations are my Spontaneous of choice. Of course, among my issues is the need for the non-wizard/sorcerer divinations. Any ideas on how to get my mits on a couple of the goodies? Preferably without Arcane Disciple

Getting into PrCs that grant Domains, like you plan on doing with Divine Oracle is one of the easiest methods. You can check out The Guide to Sovereign Speakers and Other Domain Users (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?topic=3927.0). It's a very handy resource for Archivists and Clerics, but works well for other classes on occasion too.

Arcane Disciple is likely your easiest method to gaining access to divine divination spells outside of a level in Divine Oracle or doing a Wizard 5/Ur-Priest 2/Mystic Theurge X build.

There are a small number of PrCs that allow you to add spells to your spellbook as bonus spells. Master Specialist lets you do this, and it doesn't specify whether the spell has to be on your class' spell list or not. Recaster lets you add 2 spells to your class' spell list and the spells can be from any other class' spell list. It does have a spell level limitation though (so it's best to take at levels 15-20) and the PrC can only be taken by Changelings.

Another method for gaining access to those spells is to pick out a PrC that gives you UMD as a class skill and pump up your ranks in it so that you can cast whichever Divine spells you like out of scrolls, wands, or Minor Schema. Minor Schema are like a scroll version of eternal wands. You can cast a spell from one 1/day and it recharges for you later. They're also handy because they can hold a spell of up to level 6, which is pretty damn high.

The issue is that I won't likely have a very high Wis for Arcane Disciple, but since I'm in a mostly good party, and I was planning on grabbing Able Learner to nab me UMD

Any other ideas everyone?
