So, I'm making a mammoth rider (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/prestige-classes/other-paizo/i-m/mammoth-rider), using the Mad Dog (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/barbarian/archetypes/paizo---barbarian-archetypes/mad-dog-barbarian-archetype) archetype to gain an animal companion as a barbarian, since I don't want the character to be a spellcaster.

This, of course, begs the question of which of the Mammoth rider companions would be best for me? The gist of the character is that he's a prince from the land of the linnorm kings out to become strong enough to take a linnorm in single combat so he can return home and claim his place as king.

Given I'm not that great at making comparisons between characters, and thus, animal companions, which of the selection of companions a Mammoth Rider gets should I go for? Keep in mind, no matter what, it'll be huge size by the time we get to level 10; that's a class feature of Mammoth rider, after all. Also, while I'm looking for a mechanically powerful companion, I'm also looking to try and keep it thematically appropriate for the northern viking king style stuff.

A big cat (siberian tiger?) gets pounce, which is always nice. Might miss your preferred flavour tho'. A huge wolf would probably be pretty good at tripping your enemies and is a perfect hit on flavour.
