I believe he said he doesn't want to be typecast as a dwarf.

Unfortunately, I'm bad with actors' names. I can name a few from Harry Potter, and about half the LotR cast. Not too useful. :smallfrown:

Also, I think OOTS would be better as a movie series than a TV show.

You are not alone. (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270438)

Although I believe the Giant has stated that he has no intentions of such a thing happening at the moment.

I don't think OOTS translates well to a live action medium, if you went the animation route however, that could work.

I believe he said he doesn't want to be typecast as a dwarf.

I think it's less the typecasting (he already has a very varied career after all), and more that he is allergic to the prosthetics used to make him look like a dwarf. You will not get him to play a role that requires prosthetics, unless you can invent new ones that he isn't allergic too. But if it was an Animation role, and you only needed his voice, that would change.

That said, I don't think he would be the best choice for Durkon. Unfortunately I cannot suggest anyone else off of the top of my head.

We need Scottish actors rather than Welsh. Suggestions, anyone?

Do you mean Skywalker?:smallconfused:

And if so, I take it you mean Anakin Skywalker, in which case do you mean Jake Lloyd or Hayben Christensen?

Yes, I think an OOTS show would be awesome, but I don't want it to be live action. I think they should keep it animated. That way they could keep the stick figure style, but with a bigger budget for stuff like actions scenes.

Let's start throwing around famous voice actors we would like to see cast. List the actor/voice actor, role they are reasonably well-known for, and the role they would be cast in.

Crispin Freeman (Alucard in Hellsing)- Hinjo
Grey DeLisle (Azula in Avatar the Last Airbender)-Haley
Jason Marsden (Max in A Goofy Movie)-Elan
Steve Blum (Spike in Cowboy Bebop)-Belkar, just cause
Tim Curry (Nigel in The Wild Thornberrys)-Xykon or Malack

These don't necessarily have to be realistic, just dream casting.

Christopher Lee is 93, He's old enough that his ability to fly is very iffy.

:elan:: shouldn't age increase his mental abilities, making him more capable of casting fly? :smallbiggrin:

David Vincent as Redcloak
Erik Davies as Xykon

No idea for the other characters.

I think OOTS would look great as a stop-motion clay animation movie, a la Aardman Studios (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aardman_Animations).:smallamused: See my OOTS models (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=274212) for an idea of what they could look like. Obviously, better made than mine. :smallwink:

I was actually thinking of Adam Baldwin as Durkon today. Tara Strong as Haley and Tabitha St. Germain as V are inspired. Steve Blum as Malack is very interesting, I keep forgetting that he has that versatile voice- the "Steve Blum growl" could be the black speech bubbles. Wouldn't that be a jarring transition? I didn't recognize Greg Eagles, but when I googled him, I burst out laughing. Brilliant!:smallbiggrin:

IDK I think a cartoon would be better... but I am a man-child....

Pesimismrocks

A cartoon would work. Otherwise, it just wouldn't. To make references to frame time, to go back and forth in time and the many other issues would make it difficult. Many of the jokes focus on them breaking the 4th wall of the comic.

Also, what would you do with Vaarsuvius. Ambiguous gender would be impossible to hide once someone, I don't know, watched the credits. They may as well show Mitd for what he reallly is.

I think OOTS can only work as animated series or animated movie. Making it live-action would be silly.
This could be good voices:
Kobold Oracle/Qarr - Gilbert Gottfried
Redcloak/Leeky - Mark Hamill
Xykon - Clancy Brown
Elan/Nale - Billy West
Tarquin - Tim Curry
Hamill, Brown and Curry together would be epic IFCC trio
Haley/Sabine - Susan Eisenberg
Roy - Phil LaMarr
Belkar/Thog - John DiMaggio - I always thought of Belkar as a Bender with an Australian accent.
MitD - Kevin Conroy - his voice is so unfitting that its perfect

Y'know, maybe they should get Dave Fennoy as Roy. Y'know, the fellow who voiced Lee off of the Walking Dead?

Yeah, a live-action OOTS is a horrible idea.

I feel like a simple flash cartoon would be enough, considering the art style, as long as it was smooth and the music was good.

Elan/Nale - Billy West

I will never be able to unhear that now:smallmad:

Listening to his work, I'm leaning towards Yuri Lowenthal as Roy, actually. Reading the comic, Roy has a pretty dynamic and expressive cadence in my head, and Yuri's voice as Kamina in TTGL almost perfectly matches that.

Sean Connery?

I think marionettes could work to represent a stick-figure comic. I don't know a lot of actors, so just a few casting suggestions:

Tarquin = Harrison Ford
Elan/Nale= Neil Patrick Harris (as suggested elsewhere)
Xykon = Billy Bob Thornton
Belkar = Hugh Jackman
Julio Scoundrel = Antonio Banderas
Roy = Columbus Short (plays in this show "Scandal")
Eugene = John Amos (Cleo McDowell in"Coming to America")
Vaarsuvius = Rachel Maddow
Red Cloak = Dave Chappelle/John Stewart (if only they could handle serious acting...)

Well considering that Kyle Hebert voiced Kamina, that might be a little difficult.

I have to agree that animation would be the only way to go with OotS. Taking away the stick figure aspect loses 70% of its charm and fun.

For mine, going by category:

OotS

Roy - Nolan North (tell me you can't hear it now!)
Haley -Jennifer Hale
Durkon - Craig Ferguson
Vaarsuvius - Chris Jericho (deep voice, but can get really high pitched)
Elan - Billy West

Belkar - Gilbert Godfried (because every time he opens his mouth, you just want to punt the little bastard)

Linear Guild

Nale - Billy West, of course (twins, Basil! Twins!)
Sabine - Cree Summers
Thog - Clancy Brown (he voiced Rhino in Spectacular Spider-Man, so he can do great, dumb characters)

Team Evil

Xykon - Others suggested Tim Curry and that's fantastic.
Redcloak - Alan ******* (Ah, right. Censorship. The dude that played Nightcrawler in X2)
MitD - John DiMaggio

Tarquin - Nathan Fillon
