Hello, Gnomish Wanderer here, and welcome to

Avatar Fight Club!

This club is dedicated to fighting your fellow forum avatarists in short 'duels' where the two participants bring their A-Game to the challenge of the century! Whether to improve your avataring, get a feel for OotS style movement for you fancomic artists out there, people just looking to learn some dynamism so their stick figures aren't so flat, or just to have fun with drawing another avatar, We welcome all who want to fight!

Rules1. Don't talk about Avatar Fight Clu- Wait, no, spread the word! The more the merrier!
2. In this game, you take control of your enemy's avatar while they take control of yours. This is to increase the fun by making each duelist have to think critically of the match as a whole and balance power levels! As such, it might be a good idea to ask the other player what kind of character their avatar is.
2.2 If you are so inclined, post an avatar you wish to use in duels along with a stat block so other people can get a good idea of your capabilities!
3. Succeeding over and over or failing over and over is boring. Add dynamism by having the combatants do both!
4. It's best to speak with the other player about who you feel should be the winner and their method of victory at some point. When in doubt, roll a die!
5. Have fun!
The great thing about this game is that, other than the first crafting of the avatars, each fight 'panel' is pretty quick to create (took me less than 15 minutes average) and gives you a driving force if you're in slump or just want some more ideas to play with!

As Gnomish said, creating it at the beginning is the hardest part, but you basically just copy their avatar, so yeah. Also, Gno, might be good to link to the Showcase and IA.

You could do silhouettes if your opponent is okay with that. Mostly OOTS, though, because it's easier on the other person.

I'd say as long as it's recognizable who the character(s) are (or you just tell us), you can do it in whatever style you want. I know in ABR sometimes people delved into different styles. Even OotS style varies from person to person. :smalltongue:

Note that My Avatar is a Fire Emblem fan-character, and thus follows a different set of rules for combat. They mainly involve self-duplication and general defiance of the laws of physics.

I suspect getting some basic system going for this that relates to "yo, i'm down" could be helpful, since the decision on when one loses is already up to your opponent. (And it prevents fights that go on forever, since no one can really tell when enough is enough.) :smallsmile:

I've been considering Komodo to be a monk of the same level as Shiri (an even match, since vampires and half-dragons have the same CR adjustment.) In terms of the match, I was just planning to design it with an eye to art first, rules second. Just thought I should make that clear before we're arguing over who's won.

I only posted the level so I had a number to limit myself at in regards to spells and bardic music. The damage dice was just joking around. If I was being overly specific, I would have noted that if you make a fortitude save the damage is halved. Also that unless you make your save, you'd be deafened.

Inkscape actually has a blur setting, so I've managed to get quite a nice glow on my character. The tricky part will be converting your character to vector so I can pose her, but that shouldn't be insurmountable.

As one of the original ABR posters, I'm highly amused by this, and glad it's drawing attention :smallbiggrin: I wonder how long it will take for plotlines to develop ;p

In any case, I'm up for this. My avatar is Princess Peach, wielding a Sword of War and Peace (http://magiccards.info/nph/en/161.html). There really aren't any rules. As far as stats go, you should give a basic sense of what your avatar can do, but that's really only along the lines of "he's a good swordsman" or "she can do martial arts". If you want to do D&D stats, or even just a basic HP counter as a way to decide who wins, you can do thatt, but mostly you just want it to look cool. And as for who controls whose avatar, that is likewise up to you; my duel with Domochevsky has us each doing our own, but that's fairly arbitrary, and should just sort of happen as you go.

His weapons are that sword and a two-bladed kusari-gama for reach and skills as crusader, why two bladed? because what kind of non-evil non-dark aligned crusader would use a chained scythe as weapon? :smallconfused:, at least it looks like a pickaxe. Also his shield

He's a Crusader, tank, more an armor tank than a high-HP tank
Pros: he's got a high defense, and doesn't lose his speed, can protect against magic and reflect some back too, and shield bash
Cons: he's got a very low attack and somewhat low strength, despiste his sword being that big, it's just mithril or something like that, doesn't lose speed cuz of a perk, possibly associated with CON

Also, those aren't pants, that's just a very long tabard with chainmail below it (you can notice that's a stick slightly above the boots)

He's an elven wizard, currently 3rd level, but I'm gonna bump him up to 12th so he can use all the cool spell effects he doesn't have yet.

His specialty school is Transmutation--he loves ability score buffs, spells like Spider Climb and Fly that let him do crazy stuff, and polymorphing--especially Form of the Dragon.

He has a raven familiar, and a longsword that he pulls out in emergencies.

The vampire hit really, really hard? Artistic license? It was Sudden Maximized, Sudden Empowered Sound Burst (and this doesn't follow full OOTS logic of shouting the entire name of the spell when casting it, metamagic and all)? There are options here.

Depends on the artist, normally. Some are faster at updating than others.

The Kid don't talk much, not since the Calamity - not since his ol' mother's time was up. Let's me do all the narratin' for him, so I suppose I'll oblige. A word of warnin' for those lookin' to challenge him from afar: sometimes a Brusher's Pike just ain't enough. That's what the Carbine's for. And Kid's aim ain't no joke.

This is actually not the final version - I'm adding a few more things to his belt but I thought I'd get the gist of him up first.

Basically, the Kid's got high Strength and Dexterity, medium Intelligence and Wisdom, and low Charisma. His attacks are almost exclusively physical, but he uses weapons of all varieties, from hammers to machetes to a spear in melee, and repeating crossbows to rifles to mortars at range. He casts no spells, but has a number of spell-like abilities. He also gains passive bonuses from drinking potions.
