View Full Version : Need random room ideas for Evil Corporate HQ

So I have a game set for sunday, but no time to plan for it due to work and a suprise visit from family for the beginning of the weekend. I have a plan for my Cyberpunk game to direct them to a conspiricy of CEO's that have died at the corporation they worked for. Unbenonst to the rest of the group on of the Players was framed for the first murder.

My idea is for them to storm the building, but I want to add a bit of randomness to the encounter while still allowing them to complete their goal.

Interesting combinations are always a plus, but I am very bad at the details. For example, I mostly just say your in the kitchen or living room. Rarely do I add the details that keep people guessing. In Fantasy games I get a sense that there are lots of liberties I am allowed to take, but for Cberpunk. Has to be realisticc.

Any ideas for rooms that are interesting inside an Evil Coproation HQ?

What I am planning now is that the Company is a medical distributer(ie Big Pharma. But is using the medicine it makes to create supersoldiers. Sorry about the spelling my eyes are funky right now so I am typing while my eyes are closed.

Some things that I might add would be

-crio-chambers that contain the 'failed experiments'

-A room with a large store of the super-drug/steroids

-Throw in some monkeys. If you're developing super-soldiers there must be some super-test-subjects.

-File room with info-perhaps map of the place, records of their dealings.

Hope these help somewhat. I'm not too familiar with Steampunk setting.

Labs labs labs

Most will be boring with lots of glass containers, refridgerators and cupboards full of chemicals, but some more interesting ideas/hooks:

- large MRI machine (an extremely strong magnet), the whole room/floor should have warning signs about no metal objects allowed

- animal lab (maybe something to release as a distraction, can turn against the players though)

- a wimpy scientist held at gunpoint desperately injects himself with a serum and hulks out, possibly massacres a PC or two, then dies of a heart attack

- kindegarden/preschool room (of course finding one in Evil-HQ means there must be something off with the kids)

- industrial sized microwave or freezing room (a good place to trap an overpowered bad-guy)

- windowless room with a coffin and a fridge full of blood (evil CEO is more evil than expected)

Don't forget the Evil Lawyers and Evil Accountants. Seriously... they're guarding the Evil Contracts and Evil Ledgers, which could be used as evidence of Evil Dealings. And, they don't all need to be guarded by Evil Henchman... I've met some Evil CPAs who practice Evil Martial Arts.

Have some airlocks, with signs throughout that passage saying things like this:

"Do not enter without authorization from Dr. X."

"Employees may NOT remove their hazmat suit at any time while in Area Red."

"Vaccinations are not only required, they are for your safety and well-being during your time here. Failure to receive proper vaccination will noted in your employee evaluation."

"Employees exhibiting strange behaviour or symptoms after working within Area Red, are to immediately be escorted to the medical bay, by no less than three armed personnel."

"In event of Code Red: Move swiftly and orderly to the bunkers marked in the employee manual's map. If security personnel approach you, get on your knees, and put your hands behind your head. For more details on procedure, see, 'Code Red' within your employee's manual."

Some of that should supply a lot of atmosphere for the game. If you had time, you could photoshop some of those signs.

The signs described can work for a very mundane setting, as well as a very sci-fi one. So don't worry if you don't have mutants.

don't forget the mundane details like security locks, toilets, data storage rooms, and just good ol' fashion offices.

Unless the pharma company also does all of it's research on site, chances are most of the space will be office spaces that is used for doing administrative and logistic functions.

Also, don't forget computer centers that basically just there to process ridiculous amount of info.

And different workers will have different offices. Drone workers might end up sharing a desk with 4 other people, mid level managers might have a cubicle, high level managers might have an office, even with a door but not much else, and the high powered execs are the ones with the nice office that comes with a gym, own bathroom, etc.

Oh this is easy.
The Office Room of Doom
Create a large ( I mean REALLY large, no larger than that) room that’s filled with cubicles, make it a maze, then put a (heavily armed) response team in it. The players have to get to the elevator on the other side of the room from where they start, to continue up to the next floor. But they can’t go in a straight line because of the design of the maze, and there is a well armed response team trying to stop/kill them.

You can get creative; hang posters in offices and other visual cues as to their whereabouts. Hang signs pointing to washrooms, break rooms/water fountains, conference rooms etc.

This gets really hard for the players, as the response team works as a group and is smart, they’ll pop smoke bombs/tear gas to funnel players into a “killbox”, they wear heavy body armor and carry “swat shields”, making them hard to hurt in a frontal assault. And keep in mind, bullets will go through cubical walls very, very easily. The plus side, is that players can always “look up” (that is stand full and see over the cubicles) to get their bearings, but risk taking a sniper round to the face.

You can even throw in some moral quandaries, by placing some office workers in cubicles. they're harmless, but they might rat you out to the response team by drawing their attention.

- kindegarden/preschool room (of course finding one in Evil-HQ means there must be something off with the kids)Alternatively, you could have a perfectly normal daycare center and call the company "Veridian Dynamics".

Don't forget break rooms (fridge/microwave/sink and ping-pong/pool/Foosball) and conference rooms of various sizes. Big tables, lots of chairs. Maybe through in a Print Room or two (lager copiers, paper cutters, various supplies) and an occasion Janitorial Closet, Electrical Room, and Mechanical Room.

Holy Crap I have to watch that again.

Great ideas everyone. Thanks for the help. I'm writing down the ideas on note cards for a random deck tomorrow.

Be sure to include a door bearing a familiar name on its' nameplate, as well as a door broken off its' hinges with a sign reading "Do not open under any circumstances."
