Rift Idea

If you're on Riftworld looking up at the sky during nighttime, you might notice some lights twinkling in the sky (we could see stars). If you're looking in just the right place, you might even see a small pinpoint of light that isn't actually a star... it's the light from OOTSworld shining through the rift.

Given that, maybe all the stars are just rifts to other worlds. From there it seems plausible (though I think not probable) that the five rifts don't even all lead to the same world
