I've decided to start my Kobold Run game IRL again (twice, actually... Turns out there's a fair bit of interest in it, too much for just one group :smalleek:). I think some of my players are having trouble with their characters, so I thought I'd open this up to bring their questions here for Playground input - you lot know a lot more about crunch than I do.

Let's start us off with utter cuteness: An adorable dumb Rogue who tends to play possum when threatened and has a thing for dorfs. I mean dwarves. I vaguely recall a class feature or something that involves looking so adorable and pathetic that the attacker has to do a Will save to hurt them. This ring a bell to anyone? It may've been homebrew.

The others, if anyone's interested in contributing, include:
A cowgirl kobold.
A beastial kobold warrior (think he's using some sort of psionic warrior class, so he's probably right)
A shiny-fetishist kobold.

Currently nagging the rest for their character concepts...

So, any advice or resources or whatever on any of these?

Races of the dragon has a whole partial focus on kobolds. I'd start there.

Yeah, I own that. Speaking of which, I should make sure everyone knows they can come over and do character building with me sometime...

You mean like the Boar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/boar.htm) or Dire Boar (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/monsters/direBoar.htm)?

Yeah, I found the boar a little while after I posted that. And I knew about the dire boar, that was just a bit too hardcore.

Honestly, I don't know about a Hog, but I would just re-fluff a riding dog as the hog, take away a couple points of strength and add a bit of constitutions, take away the trip and add Diehard.

But that may be just me...

Ohhh, I have ALWAYS wanted to make a kobold only game. Just sounds crazy fun. But I could never think up a good plot for that kind of setting. May I ask how your going about your game? Ive been trying to gather up ideas for when I work up mine.
I'm not terribly great at builds and the like, sorry I cant be much help on your question.

It sounds like a spell to me: Miserable Pity (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/m/miserable-pity) or pup shape (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/p/pup-shape).

At the very least Miserable Pity looks like it might be a good basis for a feat or something  I might design him a trait, and/or a flaw-feat combo...
I think maybe what I"m thinking of was in the cat homebrew thread. I'll go have a look there.

Kobold Run is a really silly and casual game, deliberately designed to be flexible and low-planning. A bunch of mean ol' adventurers have slaughtered your clan, and now you have to find a new safe space to rebuild with the remains of the tribe. Baaaasically everything I've planned for it is in the PbP I started for it a while ago, here (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=168929). There's some extra stuff, specifically what I more or less intend to be in each area, but I can't really say that here as some of my players might look in this thread. It's all very vague anyway.

edit: Hmm... Combat Panache could possibly work, too, if I tweak Sneering Glower into something more pathetic. Maybe Bluff or Charisma check instead of Intimidate.

Honestly, for a kobold, I'd say to just give them the ability to take the spell as a feat. Maybe require that activating the ability is a DC 15 diplomacy, bluff, or perform (acting) check, and their ranks in that skill count as the caster level for the DC of the spell.

That could possibly work, too. I'll think about it, and see what the player would like.

Not homebrew. From the Fabulous Cats (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fools/20030401c) article. Make your rogue a tibbit or hengeyokai cat, and you're golden.

[EDIT]Wait, this is Kobold Only? Hmm... probably need to toss a baleful polymorph on that.

Darrin: Hmmm... Could well be what I was thinking of, but there doesn't seem to be anything quite like what I'm after. Which is basically this:

(kinda wish I could find one that had him kicking butt afterwards.

How dumb are you talking about here?

6. It was 8, but he chose to reduce it.
So far he's got the feat that lets you use Dex for Search and Disable Device, and a tweaked version of Combat Panache.

edit: Bonus round! Anyone know some good sources of sample characters or spare NPCs? Just things like random Barbarians, normal villagers, dwarves, necromancers, that sort of thing, ready to go?
