So I'm looking to be a malvoncoker, (only Conjurer 3 Master Specialist 1 right now), and in the handbook it has this build:

Conjurer 3/Master Specialist 2/Malconvoker 5/Master Specialst 3-10/Wyrm Wizard 2:
(Uses Wyrm Wizard to pick up Arcane Fusion, Greater. If your DM rules that you can add Metamagic for free to Arcane Fusioned spells - you can get a
REAL legion of Bone Devils at level 20. Click HERE to see Edzero's build - please
check with your DM before making this build though - for the Arcane Fusion interpretation is necessary for the build to work.)

Now, I've read the spells, (Non-greater (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-mage--58/arcane-fusion--890/) and Greater (http://dndtools.eu/spells/complete-mage--58/arcane-fusion--890/)), and I'm trying to understand where the stinky cheese with metamagic actually works here.

The Errata States:

Page 96 – Arcane Fusion
[Addition]
Include clause, “If applying a metamagic feat to a spell, use the adjusted spell level and casting time for purposes of determining eligibility for Arcane Fusion.”

Before I give my input, I'm just trying to understand where "interpretation" by your dm is needed here.

Probably was written without considering the Errata. That's the problem with Errata, it's something you have to hunt down. You can't always presume someone has it, knows it, or even knows about it. So they were probably thinking of something like Persisted Maximized spells being Fusioned.

Additionally, he couldn't even have taken errata into account when he posted. The build was posted on 7th September, 2009, the Errata was posted on 9th November 2009.

Your link to Edzero's build seems to be missing.

I had always assumed that the cheesy trick here is to use metamagic reducers to reduce the level of the spell to below it's normal level. I'm not sure about the RAW here, but it's definitely against RAI and so most DM's would say no, hence the statement about interpretation.

From what I see, the interpretation is the use of Arcane Fusion to cast metamagic'd spells at their normal level, as Arcane Fusion states "x-level sorcerer spell you know", which can be interpreted as the base spell itself. Using this, a sorcerer can add various metamagic feats onto the 2 spells without cost, leading to the build. Errata fixes this though, and now the trick is destroyed. Kinda like what happened to Chuck.
