Specific strategy: Duskblade/Ashworm Dragoon

A player of mine wants to play a class combination consisting of classes I haven't encountered in a game before. I want to lay before you the classes and help me help him making a working character.

He wants to play a Duskblade going into Ashworm Dragoon. He has no race set yet, but is leaning towards a dwarven variety. His starting class level is 6, in addition to a +1 LA.

Go wild. Your help would be appreciated.

Ashworm Dragoon is fun, but doesn't get any arcane casting progression from what i remember.

Since mounted combat is really feat driven wouldn't a plain old fighter be a better start?

Cavalry Charger
Ride by attack

and i cant be completely certain that he can use arcane channeling during a charge.

With the very limited spells available to a duskblade (first 2nd level spells at 5th), I don't think the lack of progression will be much of an issue.

The crux of it was indeed to make this combination work, not to change the premise. Nice try, though.
