No, not Xykon and Redcloak. Ian and Geoff.

And, perhaps, Enor and Gannji.

Anybody else? I think it's about to get messy.

That Guy with a Halberd will obviously be taking over the Gate and ushering in a new age of darkness to put Malack's plans to shame.

No, no. This is certainly the return of Wizard Guy. He will rush in, freshly ressurected. Tired of being just an NPC whose life has no meaning, he will blast his way through the newly-weakened Order of the Stick and take control of the gate, ushering in the new Age of the Side Characters.

Because, although when the castle crumpled, it looked like Thog died, Tarquin mentioned he wouldn't work with a loose cannon- suggesting that it WAS possible to work with Thog, meaning he is alive for sure. And he's going to want to find Nale and Sabine.

Before that, though, he'd said that they wouldn't know if Thog was still alive until they dug him out, and we don't know for sure it they had even finished doing that when Tarquin and Nale discussed him.

Heck, he may still not be dug out.

Villians have access to ressurection spells too, you know. Especially those with entire empires under their thumb.

If he's not willing to work on a team with Thog, I don't see any reason why Tarquin would raise him.

He'll have been raised by the Unnamed Cleric of Loki, who will have joined him in his adventures to usher in this new age!

Nah, I don't think Nale would bother having Thog raised, either:

"Likelyhood of Thog getting hit by anvil: 84%. (acceptable)"

"To do list:... ...Find new fighter for later"

Ian and Geoff probably don't have the equipment or skills needed to make a big difference. They don't know where the pyramid is, either, and probably can't get there in time even if they knew.

Enor and Gannji don't have much in the way of gear either, not even a spear. It was confiscated from them to more than pay for the arena event, after all. I suppose Enor could fly himself and Gaanji there, and use his lightning breath and claws, but they don't know where to go, or why it would be important to go there. Maybe they went to those lizard-"escorts" seen earlier, including the one with "the best of both worlds". lol

Now, if a bunch of off-panel stuff involving the remains of Azure city happened, that might make a difference. We saw Hinjo running to do something when he learned that Xykon had his phylactery and that the resistance had been crushed. I doubt that he will be able to find the pyramid and teleport a meaningful force there in time, but it might happen. He's probably just preparing a Sending to inform the Order of developments in Azure City, anyway.

I guess Hinjo could coordinate something among his common allies with the Order of the Stick using Sending spells, but it seems unlikely anyone can get there in time minus a great deal of scrying, teleportation, and a lot of people with a lot of power being willing to listen to a lot of backstory very quickly and agreeing to do what needs to be done.

"To do list:... ...Find new fighter for later"It falls to Elan, then. Tarquin had been indulging him, Elan adventured with Thog before and he may have no idea Roy dropped a coliseum on him. Still, Thog did beat down his now-girlfriend with a door.

I think it's about to get messy.

Umm, "about to"?

The Order has destroyed the large number of people who defend this gate.

The defenses have been slowly wearing out.

Vaarsuvius is lost, swimming in a sea of guilt.

Belkar is down to 1 CON, and can't even stand up.

Durkon has been turned into a vampire, completely under the control of an enemy.

Two enemy teams are bearing down on the Order

And it's "about to" get messy.

That would be some mess.

Their only advantage is that they are what appears to be the final door before the gate, ahead of the others. They might be able to blow the gate and flee before The Linear Guild and/or Team Evil show up.

While we're at it, why not Amun-Zora?

She's had a little time to contact her folks (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0804.html), and is itching to get after Tarquin. I mean, she really has no means to know where he is or get there that we know of, though it is possible that she's been in touch with Nale; he may be figuring that daddy is planning on feeding him to that pet iguana once he is no longer useful and wants a back up plan. That is a bit intelligent for Nale, and it may have been hard for him to contact her while in his father's company, but in terms of wild speculation it is an interesting option.

Right now it isn't messy -- it's just looking bad. If things continue on this line, there's no alternative but retreat or total loss. Bad, yes, but a reasonable conclusion.

Messy is when everybody shows up at once and nobody knows what's going to happen. Which, I reckon, will be soon.

Leeky and Pompeii are still out there, ready to kill people because they're awesome. And Leeky will destroy Malack with a splinter while Pompeii kills Z.

And this time, the trees will have sonic protection.

What I'm actually expecting is that AZ conquers the EoB while T&M are out of town.

He had a whole building dropped on him - and nobody saw the body. "Nobody could possibly survive that!" - ergo, he obviously survived.

Serini. (On the assumption that Xykon got hold of her diary by some means that did not involve killing her)

Because Draketooth's bomb trap notified her when it was triggered, so she would know something is up around Draketooth's gate.

Because she's the only member of the Order of the Scribble not yet accounted for, and who is free to move between gates, and whose fate the narrative will not otherwise reveal for us through the mechanism of sequentially visiting the gates one after the other.

Because she's been name-dropped too many times already not to make some appearance eventually.

And because of all the potential characters who might pop up, she's the only one who has any chance of being powerful enough to make enough of an impact on the existing balance of power to make such an appearance game-changing enough to be worthwhile doing from a narrative standpoint.
