Could V potentially use the shades (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/shades.htm) spell at 17th level to duplicate greater teleport and plane shift??

The spell it's a more powerful version of, limits it to:


You use material from the Plane of Shadow to shape quasi-real illusions of one or more creatures, objects, or forces. Shadow conjuration can mimic any sorcerer or wizard conjuration (summoning) or conjuration (creation) spell of 3rd level or lower.

So- if it's only summoning and creation spells- albeit higher-level- then the teleport spells are not available.

Argh, didn't see that.

How about shapechange abuse into that one beetle thing out of mm2 or 3 that can create a tear in the planes through which others can pass and then just tear into somewhere like a good aligned plane and back to a chosen spot on the material plane?

I seriously doubt this kind of rules abuse is likely to appear in the strip.

Then we're getting into rules minutea designed to overcome a character trait specifically chosen by the author so that the party CAN'T simply jump to each gate.
