A couple years ago my father, a former D&D player, mentioned to me a concept for a race he had come up with. Recently its been on my mind so I've put it together into this. Theres a lot more detail to work with but this is the bulk of it.

Red Elves

Personality: Red Elves are known for their haughty and psudo-hive minded nature. Their prejudice towards spellcasters is well known, viewing them in a simular light as others might view a barbarian. Their fondness to great works of craftsmanship and technology at times overcomes them. If presented with any sort of machine they aren’t familiar with, they will quickly turn to study it.

Physical Description: Red elves are short and slim, standing slightly taller than their more common elven kin. 4’ 8” – 5’ 8” tall, and weighing 100 to 145 pounds. The men being the same height but slightly heavier than women. What sets them apart is their skin, which is more of a crimson hide. Their eyes tend towards reds, yellows, and black and their hair has been seen in most ‘natural’ colors.

Red Elven Lands: Most red elves cling to their cities, which typically lie in the mountains. The structures of their cities are best compared to that of an ant hill made of metal. Outside of their cities tend to be left untouched, until the inhabitants find themselves in need of something. Patches of land stripped of all traces of life often surround older cities.

Religion: Few red elves turn to ‘true ‘gods. Among them, they hold to a legend. They worship a being known as the dwelvmen. A child of an elf and a dwarf, rejected by his peoples he set out on his own. A master of the arts of both peoples, he established himself as an incredible craftsman. His crowing achievement however was the red elves. In reverence to their creator, they seek to master craftsmanship, but look down upon wizards and sorcerers. They feel such beings use primitive tools. Artificers are accepted and held quite highly. Their clergy are often multiclass Artificer/Archivists. One of their strongest beliefs though, is that the integration of arcane magic and technology is heresy. Wizard/Artificers for instance will quickly find, at best, distain from red elves. To them, the integration of arcane magic and technology is reserved for that of the truly holy, and those who try to achieve this are claiming themselves to be gods. A concept that does not sit well with them. Red elves that follow deities and not the dwelvmen, though are looked down upon in their own society, do not share much of the same prejudices. A typical red elf will praise the devices crafted by artificers and divine casters, but if they know it to be the creation of an arcane spell caster, they will reject it or even seek to destroy it.
