I was thinking - in lieu of using the spells themselves, magic items of say command word fire shuriken (10800gp, unlimited 3d6 fire damage projectiles), continuous arrow mind (8000gp, make AoOs with bow) and command word arrow storm (27000gp, one attack per enemy in range) would make an archer character interesting and viable in combat.

What other spells are there that would be suitable for such a purpose?

Slotless items of Command Word Heroics (Martial Stances, Weapon Supremacy etc).

Not such a spell, exactly, but Endless Javelins with a TWF build is pretty awesome. Combine with Iaijutsu Focus and the ability to trigger as many Sudden Strikes as possible.

Here are three important things which PF did to make it more viable:

Deadly Aim feat. A true holy grail for ranged characters, who need every damage bonus they can get to keep up with melee.

Seeking ranged weapon property (+1). Allows someone to ignore miss chances.

Clustered Shots feat. DR applies only to the whole full-attack, rather than each individual attack. This means archers aren't completely gimped by DR, so they can focus on attack-spam.

This isn't new to PF. It's in the 3.5 DMG... :smallconfused:

+1 spellstoring arrows. 160 gold apiece and they can cast any spell that you can talk the party casters into supplying at their full caster level and save DC. Haul around a golf bag of the things and just pull out whatever useful effect you happen to need at the time.

Also, go to this post (http://brilliantgameologists.com/boards/index.php?PHPSESSID=iorg5gln8d6eu3u0ngorjsoam6&topic=642.msg15067#msg15067) in the Archery Handbook (conveniently linked in its entirety in my sig) and down to the Mundane Ammunition section. Pick up all different kinds of arrows. Be Hawkeye.
