I am making a campaign in which PCs will often venture into a swamp (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/wilderness.htm).

I was thinking, what sort of items and magical powers might come handy in such an environment? (up to spell lvl 5).

Water walk (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/waterWalk.htm) is one thing I came up with, but I'd apprecaite some other ideas.

thanks

Wave Blessing [Stormwrack] prevents sinking, which might be useful for quick sand survival (which is a swim check).

And of course with all those bogs, Freedom of Movement, and by extention, Heart of Water will come in handy.

a Mosquito Net. Nothing like keeping the critters out so you can get a good nights rest.

Tenser's Floating Disk to haul supplies behind you.

Purify food and water to avoid the local illnesses.

Suddenly, the Druid's "woodland stride" is useful.

Junglerazer from the Spell Compendium page 127 is a 3rd level Druid and Sorcerer/Wizard spell. It damages fey, plant, vermin, and animal type creatures, and just plain destroys all plant life in it's fairly big area of effect.

Great for busting through hedge mazes, breaking through mangroves, absolutely destroying all life in an area that isn't the party.

Tree Stride (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/treeStride.htm) is potentially useful.

This, and a great many other useful items courtesy of Shax's Indispensable Haversack (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=148101).

Is there a better method of getting the effect of dust of dryness (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/magicItems/wondrousItems.htm#dustofDryness)?

I seem to recall that there was a wizards of the coast free adventure with some item like that featured. Ah, yes. An Eversoaking Sponge from the adventure Dry Spell or the Arms and Equipment Guide.

It won't get rid of mud or muck, but it will get rid of the water in an area quite handily.

Swamp water is often fetid. Get purify water or enjoy dysentery.

Flight obviates any and all difficulties with swamps.

Hmm, is there any efficient way to destroy a swamp? I know with magic it's fairly trivial to start a wildfire if one really wanted to as long as it's not too wet, just a couple of shrink item'd bits of lava and some fire spells and it'll take care of itself unless someone decides to fight the fire.

Create water/Purify food and water for obvious reasons

Either rope trick or Transmute mud to rock to make a campsite

Message to keep in touch with party members if dense mangrove type swamp

Summon elemental reserve feat to get earth and water elementals to scout a non-quicksand/bog route for you

Feather token boat if it opens up into bayou type territory

Dancing lights to fake out enemies with illusory will-o-wisp

Repel vermin because ugh

Poison antidotes and any anti-acid alchemists stuff - lots of acid and poison baddies in swamps

Better yet a Bugle of Calling the Bad Guy out of the Swamp would be ideal.
