Civilised humanoids sometimes have a fascination for beasts. Not mundane kinds but arcane monsters or evil undead. They sometimes become so engrossed in their studies they find a book on Kraunomancy, and so begins their slow journey to monsterdom

Adventures: Kraunians are drawn to adventure, in their hopes of seeing and studying the beasts that they love. They are also often removed from uncivilised villages for heresy and are often hunted by paladins.

Characteristics: Kraunians are powerful but estranged beings, with the cababilty to mimic their beloved beasts in ways others could never consider

Alignment: Kraunians can be of any non-lawful alignment.

Religion: Kraunians rarely worship deitys, the exceptions being outsider kraunians, which often become very devoted apostles.

Background: Kraunians come from many backgrounds, whether the kraunian discovered natural talent or studied in great librarys makes no difference

Races: Halflings and Gnomes often become Kraunians, as do humans and half-orcs. Warforged also have a knack for it and some are especially designed to be suited to the task.

Other Classes: Kraunians are bizarre im a word and wizards and other orderly classes dislike them. This is also very true of religious classes who may even consider it heresy. The exceptions are barbarians, who respect the power of monsters, and rangers who are outcasts themselves. Socerers are the only class who is fascinated by the strange innate powers.

Role: While mainly combat focused, many kraunians roles depend on their primary monster.



GAME RULE INFORMATION
Kraunians have the following game statistics.
Abilities: Charisma is important at later levels for half-forms and secondary monsters and strength, dexterity and constitution are always needed for a combatic class. Intelligence is also important for Knowledge at early levels.
Alignment: Non-lawful
Hit Die: d8.
Starting Age: As cleric.
Starting Gold: As Druid.

Class Features
All of the following are class features of the Kraunian

Weapon and Armor Proficiencies: The Proteus is proficient with simple weapons, light armour, and shields (but not Tower shields).

Studied creature: The Kraunian chooses one creature type which they study, and this is what they hope to one day transform into. You must choose one of the following types as their chosen type and they gain the bonus language(s)

• Elemental(Auran, Ignan, Terran, Aquan)
• Giant(Giant)
• Magical Beast(-)
• Monstrous Humanoid(Giant)
• Plant(Sylvan)
• Ooze(-)
• Outsider(Celestial, Abyssmal)
• Undead(-)
When multiclassing a Kraunian will never gain the ability to Turn/Rebuke their chosen type. If they have the ability before choosing their chosen type they lose the ability.

Learnt Tactics: At the start of the encounter as a minor action the Kraunian may make a Knowledge check based on their chosen creature type on a DC of their choice. It has no DC. You gain a bonus to hit equal to 1/5th of your check.
Primary Creature: At 3rd level a Kraunian must select a monster with the same type as his chosen type with a CR of 15 or less that is in a monster manual. He seems to grow miscellaneous biological attachment like horns or a tail that his chosen monster has. These do not affect mechanics in any way. He also grow either claws or tentacles and if his primary creature does either claw damage or tentacle damage he may replace his unarmed combat damage with the claw/tentacle attacks damage without cold, fie, acid, sonic, electric, force damage if it does any.
Type Upgrade
The Kraunian gains one of the following upgrades depending on his chosen type at: 6th, 13th and 16th level
•Aberration: +2 will, +2 Intimidate
•Construct:+4 will
•Dragon: +2 will, +2 spellcraft
•Elemental: +2 reflex, +2 tumble
•Magical Beast: +2 reflex, +2 will
•Giant: +4 fort
•Monstrous Humanoid: +2 fort, +2 climb
•Plant: +2 will, +2 survival
•Ooze: +4 fort
•Outsider: +2 will, +2 listen
•Undead: +2 fort, +2 sense motive
Replace Biology: At fifth and seventh level the Kraunian starts to replace his biological features with his primary beasts ones. At these levels he may choose to take either a supernatural or extraordinary ability or a spell-like ability his favoured creature has. If the power has a DC to resist the save is now the Kraunians class level+ his charisma modifier. If this power would cause a permanent effect (Ochre Jelly Splitting for example) the effect ends at the end if the day. You must sleep if your race has to, no matter what primary creature you have


Half-Form: Once per day for 10+CHA modifier rounds the Kraunian may take all natural weapons his primary form has. He may not use any supernatural, extraordinary or any other non-combat powers he doesn’t already have access to. At every second level past this one he can do this one more time per day
Prepare secondary monster: At the start of each day the Kraunian can select one supernatural power of one monster of his chosen type that is not his primary creatures.

Replace biological features: The Kraunian gains all supernatural abilities his Primary creature has access to. he also gains land speed, swim speed, fly speed and burrowing speed, if any. He also gains +2 to Str, Dex or Con as long as his primary creature's stat is higher than yours before the bonus
Anatomy Sizing: If his Primary creature is larger or smaller than him at 12th 15th and 18th level the Kraunian may choose to gain a size category at each of these levels. If he is growing he may never become larger than his primary creature, if he is shrinking he may never become smaller. Wth each step of size increase double height and weight. With each size decrease half size and weight. You do not gain the normal bonuses to str, con or Natural armour and he takes no penalty to dex

Prepare secondary creatures: At this level he may choose to at the start of the day prepare abilities similarly to prepare secondary creature except he may prepare an amount of abilities equal to his charisma modifier

DNA Revoked: One step away from becoming his chosen monster, the Kraunian has achieved his goal of becoming his monster. His type is now his chosen type and he gets +5 to Intimidate and -5 to diplomacy. If he is now a construct, magical beast or ooze reroll all hit dice as D10s. If he is now a dragon or undead reroll all hit dice as D12s. He gains any immunities and if his chosen type is construct he no longer has a con score although all types keep their intelligence score. He now looks identical to his Primary creature. He may also gain the monsters stat bonuses of either physical or mental stats. To work out the bonus take the base creatures stat and minus 10 For example an Iron Golem Kraunian who wants physical stats would get +23 (33-10) strength, No constitution score and -1 (9-10) Dexterity..

Embodiment of the beast: For 1 minute each day he becomes the shining example of his chisen type. He may use his CHA modifier in place of dex or strength for any purpose. He gains +6 to all stats. He also gets his half form powers permanently
He also gains a +20 circumstance check to intimidate and a -15 penalty to diplomacy

Requirements:
To take these levels you must be a warforged kraunian about to take 1st,8th or
14th level.

Class Features
Programmed Tactics: At first level the warforged may not take construct, undead or plant as his chosen type. He gains +2 to any knowledge check of his choice.

Create Replicas: This replaces half-form He may not have the plant, constuct or undead path. He may once per day gain all natural weapons of his primary creature for 2D10+CON rounds

Secondary Programming: At 14th level instead of gaining Prepare Secondary Creatures he gains secondary programming: He gains +10 to his Learnt tactics a number of times per day equal to his con modifierx2I really need some constructive criticism here as this is my firsst homebrew. Do you have any idea what tier this would be becasue it seems tier 4 to me.

Also I know the tabling is horrible but I don't know how to create a table.

1. looks like fun but take a look at Drakens evolutionist, it seems like you are trying to make what that does, but instead of being versatile you statically evolve into somehting specific

I have seen Draken's Evolutionist class before and it was one of the inspirations. I just wanted to create something around a particular character concept, like the mind-flayer thread I have seen or a displacer beast halfling. It was made more to have a cool looking character and mechanics were built around it.

Thanks for the directions, the table is fixed.

Ah sorry mis-write. Not mind-flayer but Mind-forged or Warflayer. A half construct half aberration or with this a warforged with mind-flayer as his Primary creature. it may have been a few weeks ago but here is the link (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=14888900)
