View Full Version : [3.5] Mechanical 'Artificer' base class?

I'm looking for an alternative to the Artificer class that, instead of using infusions, crafts mechanical devices that mimic the spell effect. Such as a flamethrower-like device that 'casts' a fireball. Or special types of shoes that mimic the levitate spell with mechanical thrusters. A steampunk feel is always nice, but not required. Ideally, the class could allow the player to be creative with devices. As the DM, it would be up to me to scrutinize the designs.

Does such a class exist? (I'm assuming homebrew because I never heard of anything officially published that fits into this description)

Converting This (http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/3rd-party-classes/adamant-entertainment/artificer) back from Pathfinder into 3.5 shouldn't be too tough. It doesn't give you a specific list of all of the things you can make but that kind of increases the versatility

Alternatively, if you do want a specific list, the Arcane Engineer in this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=270292) is probably right up your alley.
