Class Features
Weapon and Armor proficiency: Prestige Shadowcasters gain no weapon or armor proficiencies.
Fundimentals of Shadow: At 1st level, a prestige shadowcaster learns 4 fundamentals, to be added to their spells known. These are treated as 0 level spells. If they do not formerly have any 0 level spells, you instead may cast each fundamental you learn once per day.
Creeping Darkness: Upon reaching 1st level, a prestige shadowcaster's tie to the plane of shadow strengthens. This bond weakens their ability to work with spells that are not drawn from, in part, darkness.
Spells possessing the shadow, cold, or darkness descriptor, and mysteries, are cast at a +1 caster level per level. This however cannot exceed hit die.
All other spells are cast at -2 caster level per level. If the resulting caster level is 0 or lower, the spell can no longer be cast.
Spells per Day/Spells Known: At each prestige shadowcaster level, the character gains new spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in a spell casting class to which he belonged before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained.
Mystery Access: At 2nd level, a prestige shadow caster gains access to apprentice mysteries. At each level gained they may learn 1 mystery up to the highest level they have access to of any path. At 5th level, a prestige shadow caster may begin learning initiate mysteries, and at 10th level they may learn master mysteries. While they may learn a mystery higher level than they can normally cast, this does not mean they may then cast it. Each cast of a mystery takes up its appropriate level spell slot. (Apprentice being 1st - 3rd, Initiate being 4th-6th, and master being 7th-9th).
Bonus Feats: Starting at 2nd level, a prestige shadow caster gains 1 bonus feat per 2 paths they have mysteries in. To select a bonus feat, you must meet its prerequisites. The list of feats you can select as a bonus feat includes; Any metamagic feat, Favored Mystery, Greater Path Focus, Nocturnal Caster, Path Focus, Shadow Vision, and any metashadow feat. Metashadow feats may -only- work on mysteries and spells with the darkness or shadow descriptor.
Umbral Sight: When you reach 3rd level, your vision extends slightly into the plane of shadow. you gain dark vision out to 30 feet. If you already have dark vision, or gain it from some other source, the effective distance of that vision is increased by 30 feet. At 8th level, you become able to perfectly see in complete darkness, even magical darkness, out to 60 feet
Sustaining Shadows: When you reach 4th level, your bond to the Plane of Shadow allows you to absorb dark energies, mitigating certain biological needs. You need to eat only a single meal per week to maintain health. At 8th level, you only need 1 hour of sleep per night (but you must still rest for 8 hours to regain your spells for the next day). At 10th level, you gain immunity to nonmagical diseases and poisons. Finally, at 13th level, you no longer need to breath, and need never eat or sleep.
Bonus Fundimental: At 4th, 9th, and 14th level, a prestige shadowcaster learns 1 additional fundamental. If they lack 0 level spells, they do not benefit from this.
Advancing Shadow: At 6th level, all apprentice mysteries and all spells of the shadow or darkness descriptor below 4th level may be treated as spell-like abilities for the purpose of casting. Starting at 11th level, all initiate mysteries and all spells between 4th and 6th level are treated as spell-like abilities. Finally, at 12th level, all apprentice mysteries and all spells of the shadow or darkness descriptor below 4th level are treated as supernatural abilities.
