View Full Version : [PF] Summoner Serpentine Eidolon question

I'm building a Summoner and I went with the Serpentine base form for my Eidolon. The 20 foot movement is killing me though and I'm curious about how I can keep the Serpentine form but increase the speed? Could I give it the Climb evolution again and have it climb along the ground at 40 feet per round?

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Are you wedded to serpentine? It is the worst base form.

I suppose you could ask if you could take the legs evolution but just fluff it as getting faster, not actually growing legs.

Serpentine is not actually banned from taking the Limbs evolution to gain legs and thus improve its base speed. It becomes an awfully strange snake, but whatever.

Alternatively, take flight and then push some extra points into it to increase its speed

The idea is the Eidolon is a scout/stealth based design that will be avoiding combat as much as possible while I do support casting/buffing/summoning. The downside to the scout idea is the 20ft move speed. I was hoping someone might have an evolution I missed, a link to a ruling where it it was ruled that you could use climb to move along the ground, or something like that.

I went with Serpentine to rein in my inner munchkin. I'm playing with a new group and it appears that other than the DM (who I've know for years) and I no ones heard of munchkining and power building your character so I want to try and avoid overshadowing everyone else. I'm munchkiny enough, I think, to stay effective with a deliberate gimp.

There is nothing wrong with the Serpentine form.
It just takes a little more "finesse (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=12152413#post12152413)" than the others...

And what he said.
Just take the Legs evolution and fluff away actual "limbs".

Actually...*internet rummaging*
Ah, here we go.

You ever see the movie "Tremors"?

See those little cone-things on it's sides? That's (partly) how they move around.
And yet it would still be considered a "serpentine" form.
Just fluff your "legs" to look more like that.

I didn't think it was banned I was just wanting to avoid putting legs on my snake and ending up with something like Trogdor.

I plan to take flight once I hit 5th level (we're starting at 1st) but for right now I want a snake that moves faster than the default. It is an otherworldly being after all it should be possible to have it move faster than a normal snake.

That might just work. I'll talk to the DM and see what he says.
