So, this thread (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=277517), combined with the fact that I'm a huge Wisconsin Badgers fan got me thinking about how fun it would be to play a light-hearted campaign where all the PCs are D&D interpretations of different mascots. For example,Buckingham U. Badger (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bucky_Badger), the mascot for the University of Wisconsin, could be a dire werebadger bard who uses Perform (pantomime) and can somehow cast bard spells without verbal components (Silent Spell feat with minor hand waving, a special new mascot feat that allows silent casting, etc). Anyone else think this would be hilarious and really fun? You could have sports- or college-themed adventures or you could run a straight-up D&D campaign, just with mascot-based characters, depending on how silly you wanted to make it. Conferences could be kingdoms with different schools as rival major houses or organizations within the kingdom, but that come together to fight other conferences. You could use different incarnations of the mascots to represent different skill sets; so the standard Bucky would be a bard, but the law school Bucky might be a wizard or a cleric. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Bucky might be a druid or ranger.

Thoughts? Fun idea or too dumb? Any other mascots that would make great D&D characters?
