View Full Version : Seeing wrong things (in the OOTS art)

It's been bouncing around my head for a while now, might as well let it out:

Whenever Durkon's shield is on his back, I see it as if he has a fat... well, behind, shall we say. I KNOW it's the shield, and yet it always takes some effort not to see it as our late dwarf's big booty. :smallamused: The fact that it's the same color as his armor doesn't help at all.

Another thing that's even harder for me to get out of my head: I don't see Mr. Scruffy's nose as, well, his nose. I see it as a permanently happy triangular mouth. This misconception is so firmly rooted inside my head, I'm completely unable to exorcize it.

Not a swipe at The Giant's art style, just letting out personal misinterpretations. Anyone else sees these (or other) art elements differently from what they're supposed to be? :smalltongue:

Similarly to you mistaking Scruffy's nose for a mouth, it took me a good while to understand that the dragon is licking its mouth in panel 4 (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0183.html), not cracking a happy little smile about the taste of his dinner.

WOW. I never saw it as the dragon licking its mouth. My mind is blown.

Quite a few people in the various MitD threads have claimed that the handle of the stew bucket seen in a certain SoD panel is actually the monster's arm poking out of the darkness.
