Each side creates a 5-man party at a set level. The 5 man parties are placed according to the side's decision in an enclosed arena, in a set starting area. Then they fight to the death. Last side standing wins.

Daily powers not allowed, since unbalancing.

This came to mind since (IMO) 4th edition is the best for hack and slash gameplay. This would probably be something that you could (with permission from Wizards) code up and put online, and it would actually be quite fun to play. It couldn't be truly competitive, since a degree of randomness, but it would be fun to challenge a friend to - plus, you have the ablility to just troll around (5 wizard team GO!).

Why not just play Dawn of Heros , it is 4E in video game format.
They even have leaders, warriors, controllers, and striker roles.

Pretty fun game, but can be hard at times (no action points I'll note).

Sounds a little bit like Fourthcore Team Deathmatch (http://www.fourthcoreteamdeathmatch.com/p/overview-2.html). I mean, it's not a coded online game per se, but it is a game people play online.

No daily powers hurts some characters more than the others - barbarians or psionic classes will be hurt by it more than fighters, for example.

Also, 4e wasn't made with pvp in mind. This will be a war of glass cannons.
