Is 5e going to be 3.5.2?

I haven't played 5e ever yet, but is it looking like 3.5.2 or 4e/3e merger?

There's a 5e thread on the general RPGs forum. From what I've seen it's looking more like earlier editions of D&D, 2e and up.

More like a 4e/2e merger, although I doubt 4e fans see it that way (it's more of a design aesthetic which is carrying over than fundamentals).

Well some folks like 2e, others prefer 3e for how open it was.

2e had less rules, but hell of more restrictions on what you were allowed to do.

If you're a huge fan of 3.5, then it looks worse. If you don't care for 3.5 then it looks better. :smalltongue:

I haven't looked at the packet in a few months, so I couldn't tell you the current state of affairs, but they have a lot of good ideas and some so-so ideas. Though from what I've read about people talking about it, the more mundane classes still need more out of combat utility.
