So I am new to DM and one of my players is new also and choose a druid and I am worried I don't have his stats correct. :smalleek:
It's the bonus HD that is throwing me off.
Bonus HD: Extra eight-sided (d8) Hit Dice, each of which gains a Consitution modifier, as normal. Remember that extra Hit Dice improve the animal companion’s base attack and base save bonuses. An animal companion’s base attack bonus is the same as that of a druid of a level equal to the animal’s HD. An animal companion has good Fortitude and Reflex saves (treat it as a character whose level equals the animal’s HD). An animal companion gains additional skill points and feats for bonus HD as normal for advancing a monster’s Hit Dice.
The druid is level 5 and chose a wolverine which gets level -3. So It's a level 2 wolverine. So a level 1 wolverine gets 3D8. At level two does he become a 4D8? Do they get more HP every level like players? So with the highlighted above is the wolverines base attack bonus the same as a level 3 or 4 druid (a 2 or 3). Even though a wolverine out of the monster manual has a base attack bonus of +4?
Right now for a level 5 druid the wolverine has as follows
2 claws +4 (1d4+2) and bite -1 (1d6+1)
Fort 7, Reflex 5, Will 2.
Armour class 14
Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't want to be cheating my player out of something because I can't grasp leveling up monsters.
