Hi there, I was wondering -- say someone you are fighting has a penchant for Planar Binding demons. Not Devils, not other fiends, not anything else you can Planar Bind, but 'Using the Planar Binding spell to Bind Demons'.

So far, he isn't using the spell optimally, focusing on lots of Vrocks... but still, what can a level 10 party (with a Wizard, a Druid, a Factotum, but no Cleric) do to combat Vrocks in particular? What are some specific spells that are best at this?? We have very little money to get a new scroll for the Wizard to scribe, but if there is something fantastic, that would be great.

Dismissal (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/dismissal.htm) seems like it'd work for that. It fits right into the level requirements, and it's in core, so it's allowed. You can cut the proverbial gordian knot that is summoned vrocks.

Yea, they have spell resistance, and it's a Wizard 5, and I dont think our wizard knows it, and I don't think we have enough gold for a scroll and the inks...

Dismissal is 1 target and SR yes though. Since it's always vrocks I'd look at them specifically rather than countering calling in general. Crowd control like web, Evard's black tentacles and solid fog are good. Indoors walls work too. Against a lower number of vrocks try resilient sphere and wall of ice (both are SR no) and buffing the damage dealers with spells like haste. Or after you're done crowd controlling half of a larger number of Vrocks you can use those same spells against the reduced number.

Don't tightly cluster the party near one, nor get within 20 feet of the trapped crowd controlled ones, in case they screech. But other than that it's only a 1 round stun which also wastes the Vrock's turn so you roll your save and move on.

Druids also have some crowd control, but it varies based on the terrain (stone, plants, air, ceiling/not, etc.) so it takes some work to have the right one prepared. Still helps.

If your Druid can buff their caster level a bit (or even somewhat if they can't), Control Winds could ruin the day of various flying demons.

It's such a shame you don't have a Cleric, because Sacred Item (CChamp Clr/Pal 4) rules. Maybe you could buy some castings on your weapons.

Druid can always kelpstrand. The vrocks will have a +20 grapple check, and the druid should be at least +22, Not a sure thing on any individual strand, but it will mess one of them up for a round. Grappled vrocks will likely greater teleport out, but it can buy time for someone stunned by their screech.

Oh ya forgot the at-will greater teleport SLA. Well that's still a DC 27 concentration check with evard's tentacles, and they have a +20. Plus if you can crowd control 2 or more with 1 action and they all use their action to teleport, it's a net gain in actions.

And buffing the melee is always nice regardless. At least send in a shapeshifted druid. Their AC and attack bonus are fairly poor, so if yours are both good you can simply wail into them with impunity. Even mirror images are quickly destroyed with a full attack.
