Motto: "Meo-urk!"

For all those to whom not only verisimilitude is desirable, but even some measure of realism, and a great deal of consistency…

For all those also who find catgirls inherently offensive in some way, or merely unnecessary and ill-fitting…

For all those finally who just like catchy names and a bit of casual indirect slaughter on the side…

Join the Catgirl-Killers Society! Bring down the vile anthromorphic feline pretenders! For great justice!

1Anyone who wishes to join should put a link in their signature, like this: CKS
Or like this: Catgirl-Killers Society

all that you kill

*Goes to the center of the battlefield and begins playing the bagpipes in preparation for the eventual bloody but epic battle*

To be clear, most of the Society's deadly work will be done quietly, in threads talking about the physics of decanters of endless water, the rate of actual population growth, the economics of RPGs, the energy released by a dragon diving at full speed, and so on. (The decanter's width of outflow is far too large for its printed rate of flow. Take that! :smalltongue:)

Whether there will actually be some sort of showdown I don't yet know.

Reference point is ground level).

Ignoring wind drag (and there being no other non-conservative force to make Work).

We apply conservation of Energy and get that the Potential energy becomes kinetic energy at moment of crash.

Kinetic Energy at Crash: 1/2Mv2 (v is speed in m/s in the vertical axis)

9.8*40*100=1/2*40*v2
Masses go away and we solve for v
v=120m/s
About 1/3 of the speed of sound (at ground level).

If the application of physics doesn't kill them... the crash will.

Catgirl Potential Energy at start of launch: MgH (where M is catgirl mass; assuming 40 kilograms would be a sensible amount) (g is acceleration due to gravity; 9,8 m/s2) (H is their starting height at time of launch; 100m as an estimate.

Masses go away and we solve for v
v=120m/s
About 1/3 of the speed of sound (at ground level).

If the application of physics doesn't kill them... the crash will.

Cats can survive a fall from any height. And we are immune to physics

Cats can kill commoners, so a catgirl commoner should be able to deal with regular commoners. Scale up with class levels. I mean, there's no INT penalty involved. Maybe WIS. But hey, Will saves are less important than AC, and racial bonuses to listen ought to help even things out.

I think catgirls have the edge here, given your lack of unanimous support.

Note: I'm on the catgirls' side. :p

If penalties reduce the damage result to less than 1, a hit still deals 1 point of damage.

That's hysterical, but Raineh Daze is unfortunately correct. (Also, even a crit does exactly 1 point of damage, since you merely roll the same thing twice and add together before ensuring the minimum damage.)

Catgirls, however… who knows what they do if they scratch you!

For one so intent on killing catgirls, I'm surprised that you would tolerate one being in your signature. :smallamused:
That I'm intent on the hunt of a species does not preclude the acceptance of them as a roleplaying element or one that can be utilised in a different context. Similar to my dislike of elves and yet playing one in certain games.

However an update with a crossbow and a catgirl on it's aim is not entirely excluded. Though basic etiquette prevents one from depicting party members being hunted so it will have to be one anew and different.

Tsk. You can't proclaim yourself a member of SCIENCE! if you have obviously not understood my founding principles. I'll repeat it again.

We do science for SCIENCE!'s sake. Not to erradicate some creature. After all, we could use it as a test subject, or analyze its genetics. How will ecosystems react to the complete elimination of the catgirl species? Is a valid scientific question, to which my hypothesis is going to be "Not at all."

Now to conduct the experiment.

You suddenly don't know what an "Arcana" is! Why did you say that? there is no such thing as an "Arcana" there is only the Sorcerawhatsits. The Sorcerawhatsits hates you.

the Sorcerawhatsits decides that pointing out flaws in works/bringing science into a fantasy discussion/whatever else kills cat girls, will now instead resurrect them or if there is no further cat girls to be resurrected, either makes a new one or turns you into a cat girl, whichever is more hilarious.

Why? because its the Sorcerawhatsits thats why. it also makes a square banana appear before you and do a little dance, but thats just one of the many quirks of the Sorcerawhatsits.

As I mentioned in the other thread, overpopulation due to a lack of predators threatens the health of the species as a whole, so it is not needless destruction I promote, but a culling of the herd.
The suggested expanding of their unreality into reality weakens and distorts the laws of physics in our world. Imagine if air suddenly stopped working, but not the need to breathe, or if blood plasma suddenly was a gas at body temperature.
Attempted destruction of our records is but needless destruction in itself, for it is only an external database for ease of operation, we can continue without it, recreating said records if we we decide to.

So, it's perfectly reasonable to go out and kill humans? After all, overpopulation due to a lack of predators threatens our species as well. What methods shall we use to reduce the population? Plague? Killing all born with defects? Random selection?

Sure... It seems well-intentioned at first; but soon enough it's mass graves in the forests where the bodies of those who did you no harm rot forgotten in the wilderness with only the trees to remember them.
Where does it stop Ravens_Cry? You may stay your hand eventually, but will your compatriots do the same?
I can only do what I can, influencing moderation in my own way. As for humans, so far we have mostly quarantined ourselves to one planet. There was a brief incursion on a nearby world, but it didn't last long, and another of the specimen recently perished anyway. Even if a more permanent incursion is attained, travelling to other systems is several magnitudes again more difficult.
Besides, Wizards are easily contained. They are only capable of magic in universes where the laws of physics allow what they call 'magic' to happen. They actually don't warp reality as such, though many of the more arrogant may claim so. Felis puellas are capable of true reality warping and are particularly dangerous en masse in that regard.
As for what to do with culled specimen of Felis puellas, I propose this (http://www.mnn.com/money/sustainable-business-practices/stories/green-burial-how-to-turn-a-human-body-into-compost#).

I disagree. Killing them is a necessary good!
I am afraid this is where we must agree to disagree.

To bring back the thread on media discussion, I'm going to confess my ignorance.
The meme is "Every time you bring up real world physics in a discussion about fantasy, God kills a Cat Girl".
From where this saying comes? I suppose it's manga-related, but what's its origin?

To all current members, a couple reminders: whenever you make a post in the forum at large about catgirls, (pseudo-)science, or the like, be sure to mention the Society! Also, if you can manage the room, a sig link would be much appreciated.

I see no point in that.
I mean, once a week or so, I grudgingly venture into the Friendly Banter subforum, looking for the rare few semi-interesting opening posts. This one seemed to actually be interesting, maybe sparking a science discussion or two.

Of course, it instead went like any other thread I've seen in this subforum, degenerating half a page in in pointless insults and series of incoherent interjections instead of discussions.

I don't want that connected to any real threads, such as are more likely to occur in the media or gaming fora. Because bringing this society up there would probably contaminate potentially stimulating discussions of science with the chosen tone and style of this thread.

It wasn't deliberate: they were just in the wrong thread at the wrong time. Cocateral damage I suppose.

I recommend we go over to that there Catgirl thread and post us some of those equations. That ought to do it.

To all fellows (and not felids) of our steemed society.

Due to the recent arsoning of our archives, we have upgraded then to a less material/flamable media.

All the new data shall be added to a permanency enhanced - programed illusion. Members of our society can add their comments to the database, and all data can be visualizated in what we call "virtual library". You can create a new letter, and collect your letters in a tome. A tome can be locked by its creator or a member of higher hierarchy, so that no new editions in a given virtual tome can be made without an specific password, definned by its owner. To prevent obstruction of the eyesight of members, any virtual tome can be adjusted by the member to appear in any size between Fine and Colossal. Multiple members can read the same tome at the same time, by requesting a copy of a given tome.

Backups shall be maintained regularly, by our servers - simulacrums of a renowed illusionist. Backups for long storage must be preserved by the use of "Flesh to Stone". For security reasons, our backup servers are maintained apart on individual demiplanes. In case of need, the regular server can be found in the near Ethereal Plane.

But it occurs to me... given how many catgirls have been destroyed by us, how are there any left?

Of course, I'm fairly against genocide, so why not create some psudoscientific way to shunt them to a dimension where they aren't killed by wanton application of the laws of physics. We could use--crap, I already wiped out a bunch with this sentence, didn't I...

Castaras

Potentially feasible, but the energy required for such an exercise would be astronomical.

There is also the issue of how you would go about finding such a world. The huge number of universes in the multiverse would be problematic to go through to find such a universe. If potentially there was a way of filtering the multiverse by laws of physics, there would still be an infinite amount of worlds to look into, some which'll have side effects on catgirls that nobody could even dream of.

And there's the point that not all catgirls get killed by bringing in physics into a fantasy/story debate. :smallamused:

Normally, I would not count myself involved in a war against an imaginary species, but it now depends:

How do we intend to deal with the ones from space?

I suppose we could use a Wrack spell continuously for a few weeks, kill them, raise them (using a process that works even on the unwilling), repeat the process a couple thousand times, and then turn them into puddles with Flesh-to-Stone, Rock-to-Mud, and Purify Water... but that would be an insufficient revenge on at least one of them...

I neither care for nor detest cat-girls, but if you truly intend to start a "Holy Crusade," against an entire sentient species simply because they annoy you, then I am fully prepared to take up my newly forged Nether Lufractus and kill you myself, before your crusade extends beyond the reaches of mere fiction.
