I just saw this gloriously campy, hilarious, self aware and down right awesome movie. I thought the music and the visuals were fantastic i though some of the in jokes to various Nazi pop culture were well placed without dominating the movie and turning it into Nazi memes:The Movie i thought the Palin/Bush expy was hilarious and the politicians being such children allowed the movie to end on a point that was almost, but not quite, poignant.

I've seen this in my Netflix and was thinking about watching it for the sheer ridiculousness factor.

I think that it stopped just short of the utter ridiculousness it should have been. If it were a little more insane, I think it would've been much better. The ****ed up ending definitely would've worked much better.

Mir joining the battle.

Favorite line in the entire movie.

Also, that piece of musing when the Gotterdamerung is activated gives me chills.

I had been waiting for it to hit movie theaters stateside for months, and as far as I know, that never happened. Then I had the opportunity to watch it on Netflix, and it was everything I had hoped for.

Watched it on Netflix a few weeks ago. By the end of that week, I had watched it at least 3 more times. It's fantastic.

I could have sworn that it was made by a German studio...?

I thought Scandanavian, but I might be confusing it with Nazi Zombies in Norway.:smallamused: (Dead Snooow)

Made my day  I guess the Brist did bring their most powerful spacecraft into battle.

It certainly was a fun movie. I'll have to agree with pita, it walked the thin line between utterly ridiculous and just kind of... a bad movie? But I think it worked really well with that slight bit of seriousness left. I'd be curious how it would have been if they'd dropped that as well, though.

Saw it a few months ago. It was gloriously absurd. And true, the Gotterdamerung theme is surprisingly epic. Damn nazis are getting all the cool musics !

For me Iron Sky was a bit disappointment after all the years of hype. It had some great scenes, but I can easily see how it could have been more hammy and/or funny. I watched it once and I'm not in a hurry to see it second time.

I wathced the movie whil drinking copious amounts of beer. And it was awesome. I mean a movie about earth beating zombie space nazis! How can you not like that?

The scene that took the movie from "Oh we'll see how it goes" to "Its a throwback to 50s or even earlier pulp and it is GLORIOUS" is right at the beginning where the mistake with the airlock tore the poor ladys clothes half off. Cheesy pulp at its best. I paused the movie to explain to my friends why i was cheering so i didnt just look like a perv though.

Also I didnt see it as Palin Bashing really. First she had a texan accent. Right? Second all of the politicians were lying children in suits. Third, though i might be wrong on this one im an aussie, i didnt see anything pointing specifically to her political policies. It was just having a recognizable figure in a cheesy movie.

It's pretty close-minded to assume that films are only created and watched by people in the US. Out here in the rest of the world, you'd probably struggle to reach a double-figure percentage that would be offended by Palin-bashing.

It's pretty closed minded that movies continually tend to mock The Right Side of the political sphere, Hollywood produced or not.

The Palin character is actually FAR more badass in this movie than in real life. :smalltongue:

One of my favorite bits was when she asked if there was any nation that didn't arm their space station, and the ambassador from Finland was the only one who raised his hand, LOL.

I haven't seen this yet, but I've heard the score is by industrial band Laibach. They've been doing over-the-top subversive music for ages now, and are the absolute perfect pick! They do a fantastic cover of "The Final Countdown"

There was a lot of reference to other media in this film, from the music, to the framing of the shots, to obvious things like, "It can't be that different from Wing Commander!"

I think this is a movie that's good if you can turn off your brain and not think about it. The second you start thinking about it, the acting, the dialogue, the fail at so bad it's good, etc.... it shows spots.
