Hi all,

What classes, enhancements, and feats can give characters the ability to enhance weapons (emphasis on the plural - not like the Exorcist of the Silver Flame which can only enhance one weapon) they wield "for free"? Like the Monk gains the ability to treat all their unarmed attacks as Magic, Lawful, and Adamantine.

Thanks in advance!

Technically, the monk in your example doesn't count either. They count their Unarmed Strike as those things. A better example is the Cold Iron Warrior (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/fey/20040507a), who gains the ability to treat his unarmed strikes in addition to any weapon he wields as a Cold Iron weapon.

A spell-less Paladin (CW) can treat any weapon he wields as good-aligned after 6th level.

Leaving aside my flawed example... to be precise, I'm looking for abilities similar to the below.

Cold Iron Strike (Su): Beginning at 7th level, a cold iron warrior's unarmed strike or any weapon he wields bypasses cold iron damage reduction.

Kensei(from OA) and Kensai(from CW) both confer this ability. Depending on what you're looking for, they fulfill different roles of flavor. The Psychic Weapon Master(Web only (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/psm/20040827d)) is a psionic counterpart to the Kensei, but is strictly better for psionic characters because it advances manifesting.

Levels in this class allow you to effectively enhance weapons, and as you level you can add a greater variety to them. These are among the most efficient ways to enhance weapons without explicitly paying for crafting magical items.

Those both enhance specific weapons. GreenSerpent is looking for class abilities that enhance any weapon the wielder holds, like the Cold Iron Warrior example cited before.

Arcane Duelist (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20030224a) adds an Enhancement bonus to his chosen weapon which stacks with whatever it already has. You can have a caster in the party put Greater Magic Weapon +5 on your chosen weapon, and then add the +4 the class grants on top of that for a total +9.

I'd prefer a primary caster spell list, specifically Sorcerer/Wizard or Cleric.

Greater Magic Weapon (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/magicWeaponGreater.htm): +1 per four caster levels, lasts an hour/level, you can (Lesser) Metamagic Rod of Extend it.

Greater Mighty Wallop: RotD, Sorcerer/Wizard 3, increases a bludgeoning weapon's base damage by one size per four caster levels, lasts an hour/level, you can Lesser Metamagic Rod of Extend it.

Ice Axe: SpC, Cleric 3, can (Divine Metamagic) Persistent Spell it, you gain an insubstantial battleaxe of ice which makes touch attacks and deals 2d12 damage +1 point per two caster levels (max +10), but you can't apply your Strength bonus to the damage. You can put Fell Drain Spell on it so it also deals a negative level per hit. You can cast it twice for two-weapon fighting.

Flame Blade (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/flameBlade.htm): Similar to Ice Axe, you can use Persistent Spell and Fell Drain Spell with it. An Archivist could two-weapon fight with both an Ice Axe and a Flame Blade!

Thunderlance: SpC, Sorcerer/Wizard 4, can Persistent Spell it (via Incantatrix, Naenhoon, etc.), you wield a lance of force that can extend or retract for a natural reach of 20 ft., but it can still strike adjacent foes and anywhere in between. It deals 3d6 base damage, with a x3 critical multiplier, and it uses the higher of your Int or Cha bonus for attack and damage rolls instead of Str. It can be the target of Greater Magic Weapon, and you can wield it two-handed and apply Power Attack to it. It also has a chance to dispel any force effects of 3rd level or lower that it hits, such as Shield and Mage Armor spells. You can put Fell Drain Spell on it so it also deals a negative level per hit.

Not sure if this counts, but I'm pretty sure the Artificer has spells (not called spells though, infusions maybe?) that give any weapon a certain enchantment for a certain amount of time.

The Law Inviolate feat (Initiate, requires Cleric 1 of St. Cuthbert) makes all of your natural weapons, in addition to any weapon you wield, into [lawful] weapons.

Excellent start for me - the character I'm working on is Lawful Neutral anyway, and a 1-level cleric dip is easy to work into the build.

Also to clarify on WHY I'm looking for free enchantments, he may very well end up without his weapons at some point and I'm looking for ways to make sure he can pick up a normal sword and still have a chance.
