I've searched and searched and I cannot find the answer to my question...

If I take the Jack of all trades feat...

"You can use any skill as if you had 1/2 rank in that skill. This benefit allows you to attempt checks with skills that normally don’t allow untrained skill checks (such as Decipher Script and Knowledge). If a skill doesn’t allow skill checks (such as Speak Language), this feat has no effect."

...may I put ranks in to those skills that I was previously untrained in? If this answer is somewhere else on the forum, kindly link me.

Thank you

You may put ranks in them without the feat, nothing is stopping you...

If what you want to know is if they would become class skills, the answer would still be no.

So, if I may...

WITHOUT the feat, I can put ranks in trained skills, I just won't be able to make checks against them. correct?

WITH the feat, I can put ranks in trained skills, only now I will be able to make checks against them. correct?

And, to take that a step further, since these skills are still NOT class skills, it'll cost me double to put ranks in to them. correct?

Thank you for your patience.

The feat gives you the benefit of allowing trained checks without ranks.

You can put skill ranks irregardless of the feat.

If you were to put skill ranks it would be considered trained and thus you would be able to make trained checks.

The skill ranks still would cost you 2 skill points per rank yes.
